"Maybe he forgot to do the wash. Who knows? I am just happy to see young people at mass."
I laughed out loud at that one. Hee.

Well, you've done it again, Maureen.
"If my friends and I want to see half-naked girls, we don't go to bars, we go to mass. Hey, there's no cover charge..."
That is a gem!
Now, if the Catholic Church could parlay Wal-Mart's Rollback Offering into the Mass, young college guys could save some serious dough.

This is so funny, but it makes a very good point. What I can't make up my mind about is if this was a true story or not. Regardless, it has a moral, with a twist!

Did you think him wearing a speedo would have been overkill, or am I missing a larger ontological point.
I just wanted to say "ontological" actually. I'm hoping it was in context. Or made me sound smart.

All I can say is good for Mike!!! What a great kid, and brother. My kids know if I don't like what they've got on on Sunday, I point to the top of the stairs and smile. Some times I get "You're joking, right?" my reply is " Would you like me to find something for you to wear?". That usually stops them in their tracks.

Veronica, Angela, David - Thanks for the nice feedback! Angela, maybe you should write B16 with your ideas. Please give me credit, though.
Jeff - Same to you. I plan on making you one of my citizen journalists.
Tom - Initially, I had Mike wear Speedos, but then I realized no 19-year-old male would wear them to the beach, much less mass. BTW, nice use of the word ontological.
Lucy - It sounds like your family will never have to face this kind of tragedy, fortunately.

"Seventeen-year-old Mandy, meanwhile, said she plans to change churches. 'I am so humiliated,' she said. 'I think I hate Mike's guts.'"
Let's hope she finds a church that really teaches that "morality is relative" instead of some disobedient quasi-Catholic-misfit "church" that does. :D

Well I am PROUD to be a male and not have to worry about all that modesty crap! People moan and groan about "too much skin" if a women goes out to the beach in a bikini, but us men - we just put on swimming trunks, nobody will give us a lecture on life
