Welcome back outside. It's much more fun out here.

Welcome back! My RSS reader missed ya.

Glad you're back posting publicly. The Creative Commons license is actually *less* restrictive than a standard copyright, which you have by default if you don't post a license on your site.

Briefly, standard copyright doesn't allow people to reuse or repost your content without prior approval.

Your Creative Commons says that people can repost your content, as long as they attribute it to you and they don't make money on it. So, by posting under a CC license, you've actually created a use exception for non-commercial entities.

I don't believe standard copyright *or* the Creative Commons license would prevent the Bee from quoting you or reposting your content, as there is a fair use exception to copyright for reporting news.

I like your blog as public, but I wanted to explain my understanding of copyrights in this case. As you know, I am not a lawyer and don't actually claim to know what I'm talking about. This is just my understanding.

Carl, if they sell newspapers, then I don't see how they don't effectively make money off it. It was also my understanding that I had a standard copyright previously, and said as much to them.

However, I feel that if I explicitly indicate that I don't want content from here used for the purpose of creating editorial content, then I have done my part to inform them of my intent. If they continue to do so, then it is in the face of a good faith effort to protect my content, and that, I feel, gives me a legal leg to stand on if I feel like I need to pursue it.

I always liked your blog and am glad you are back.
