You are absolutely correct on every point. I've become increasingly aware of illegal immigrants in Seattle finding abundant work by standing outside of Home Depot's, while legal workers wait fruitlessly for work at labor halls throughout the city.
Sometimes larger companies are unfairly blamed for hiring illegals (though I'm sure they do their share), but if you multiply all the Home Depots in this country by the 100 or so illegal that find work that way evry day, you recognize that private citizens and small contractors are the real villans.
One thing I find ironic: some construction companies do background checks and refuse to hire anyone with even a dated criminal record. Yet some of these same companies don't hesitate to hire illegal who, by definition, are actively violating the law.
