Gravatar Personally, this study confuses me a little bit. When I think of heart attacks, in addition to smoking, I also think of factors like cholestorol, diet, exercise, in addition to other factors.

Even if someone quits smoking, it is unlikely they will immediately make other changes that benefit their health.

Gravatar Lynda, the only logical conclusion is that if we corrected the cholesterol, diet, exercise AND smoking "problems" we'd eliminate heart attacks altogether. With smoking gone most of cancer would go as well, and we'd all live forever!

Heh... there's a wonderful cartoon out there somewhere showing a very decrepit and unhappy looking potbellied old geezer sitting on an examining table while the doctor, examining his chart, says "Well, these are those golden years you gave up all your bad habits for!"

Gravatar lol. Michael, your comment makes me think of the movie Escape from L.A. There is a scene where one of the characters says all the things that are outlawed because they are bad for you, like salt, red meat, and cigarettes.
