Gravatar "Safer cigarettes and keep kids from smoking."
...........
What a bunch of crap!!

Just what is the health hazard to youths caused by being a smoker?

Cigarettes are already just as 'safe' as normal living!!

Let's look at just how long a 10 year would have to smoke in order to reach the age at which about 50% of the 'smoking related' deaths would have occurred.

http://www.cato.org/pubs/regulat...gulat...gv21n4/ lies.pdf
Page 29,table 4

We see that a 10 year old would have to smoke for 25 years to reach the age at which the CDC says such deaths start to occur.

At age 50,after 40 years of smoking, the child will have reached the age at which 95% of those 'smoking related' deaths have NOT yet occurred.

At age 60,after 50 years of smoking, the child will have the age at which 76.5% of the 'smoking related' deaths have NOT yet occurred.

At the age of 70,after 60 years of smoking, the child will have reached the age where over 50% of those deaths have yet to occur.

The average age of death from 'smoking related' diseases is about 72.

At that time,
http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pub...Pubs/ 98.025.PDF

the average age of death from all causes was 71.1 years

That 10 year old has just as much chance of dying from something else as from a 'smoking related' disease.

Look back 60 years at the advances that medicine has made and then try to guess what advances will be made over the coming 60 years.

I wonder what will be the leading cause of death in 2070?

Probably the govt!!!

Gravatar "they would get the same risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases"
................
There is NO increased risk for Cardiovascular Disease death from smoking.

http://www.americanheart.org/ pre...ntifier=3038016
Smoking and Cardiovascular Disease

"Cigarette smoking is the most important preventable cause of premature death in the United States. It accounts for nearly 440,000 deaths each year, of which more than 135,000 are due to smoking related cardiovascular diseases. Cigarette smokers are two-to-three times more likely to die from coronary heart disease than nonsmokers."

You would think that if you took an equal number of smokers and non-smokers; that, the smokers would have two-to-three times as many coronary heart disease deaths.

Data from the CDC shows that smokers will have about 25% FEWER cardiovascular disease deaths.

Using data from here,
http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/brfss/a.../a...qkey=4394& grp=0

and here,
http://www.census.gov/population...lation...ables/ tab01.pdf

We find that there are about 142,092,916 adults in the above 35 population and there are about 29,007,093 smokers.

Smokers are 20.4% of the over 35 population where the CDC finds smoking related(caused) deaths.

Here,
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/...ml/ mm5745a3.htm
in the provided Table,we find that there are 852,370 CVD deaths in this age grouping and that there are 128,497 smoking attributed deaths.

That is,15% of those deaths.

In other words; about 29 million never smokers would have about 20.4% of the 852,370 CVD deaths and that would be 173,883 CVD deaths.

However;since the CDC says that smokers have only 15% of the CVD deaths and they are 20.4% of the effected population, smoking MUST HAVE PREVENTED 5% of the expected smokers' CVD deaths.

Smoking 'prevented' 45,386 CVD deaths.

The American Heart Association has published data that shows that smokers and non-smokers have a similar life time risk for CVD.

Lifetime risk for CVD was similar for smokers and nonsmokers (Table 2 and Figure 1).

Diseases of the heart are the leading reason for death in the USA.

Our 10 year old smoker could smoke for over 65 years and have only a 50% chance of heart disease death, that same as a non-smoker.

"Despite its effectiveness, niacin has been the ugly duckling of heart medications, an old remedy that few scientists cared to examine. But that seems likely to change.

“There’s a great unfilled need for something that raises HDL,” said Dr. Steven E. Nissen, a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic and president of the American College of Cardiology. “Right now, in the wake of the failure of torcetrapib, niacin is really it. Nothing else available is that effective.”

In 1975, long before statins, a landmark study of 8,341 men who had suffered heart attacks found that niacin was the only treatment among five tested that prevented second heart attacks. Compared with men on placebos, those on niacin had a 26 percent reduction in heart attacks and a 27 percent reduction in strokes. Fifteen years later, the mortality rate among the men on niacin was 11 percent lower than among those who had received placebos.

“Here you have a drug that was about as effective as the early statins, and it just never caught on,” said Dr. B. Greg Brown, professor of medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. “It’s a mystery to me. But if you’re a drug company, I guess you can’t make money on a vitamin.”

Gravatar So, the war on Big Tobacco is not really about tobacco at all."saying if you dried, shredded and rolled up cabbage or broccoli or even carrots, and people smoked as much of that stuff as they did cigarettes and inhaled it as deeply into their lungs at that very hot temperature, they would get the same risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases." It is the war against Big Cabbage and Big Smoke. Why then are there bans against smoking tobacco at the corner bar but no law against burning wood, candles, or meat in that same bar? The risk of secondhand smoke from these substances is the same as the risk of shs from cigarettes in the building. Either ban fireplaces and meat grills and burning candles or stop the insanity of picking on BT. I'm leaving now to light up some shredded carrots.

Gravatar How long were you making your concerns known Dr Siegel, some several months at least. Now that it's all done and dusted there is suddenly a little whimper ? It seems to me that all of a sudden TFK is being scapegoated and criticized when most of this knowledge was already in the public domain. The medical profession is becoming a geriatric ragbag of whinging and moaning Alzheimer sufferers.A fag and a cup of coffee would have helped them immensely.

Gravatar I thought the FDA bill very explictly banned tobacco cos. from impling any types of smokes were safer (I have read the bill).

I didn't see anything about the marketing of "reduced exposure" products.

Gravatar per Dr. Siegel, whose credibility is badly shaken today, "It’s become abundantly clear over the years that the problem is products of combustion, saying if you dried, shredded and rolled up cabbage or broccoli or even carrots, and people smoked as much of that stuff as they did cigarettes and inhaled it as deeply into their lungs at that VERY HOT TEMPERATURE, they would get the same risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases."

"The temperature of the smoke ranged from 26.7 degrees C to 60 degrees C. That's 80.6 degrees F to 140 degrees F," about the same temperature as a cooled off cup of coffee.

Is the outrageously high temperature of tobacco smoke bothering you ... fella? Well, hold your head up high and take a walk in the sun ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p...h? v=pOhKqWMhVVI

And then make the attempt to study the first hand smoke studies to learn what your predecessors found to be factual and stop making it up as you go along.

Tobacco is FDA approved and insuring the healthcare of millions.®

Gravatar Dr. Siegel: ”Dr. Nitzkin's primary argument is that the legislation is essentially a political scam in that it allows the health groups to claim victory over Big Tobacco but that it actually contains very little of substance to fight Big Tobacco.”

The scam is using useless legislation to camoflage their greed.

Neither the MSA nor the FDA legislation did much to actually reduce smoking prevalence or the alleged hazards of smoking. What they did was allow government and anti-smoker zealots to profit handsomely from tobacco sales.

And, the growing dependency on tobacco money means the zealots can't win without losing. It's simply not in their best interests to actually win the war on tobacco. The stated cause of public health has taken a back seat to the continued, financially rewarding, existence of the anti-smoker cult.

The war on smokers, like the wars in Orwell's world, is destined to be fought in perpetuity.

Gravatar So what's the implication from Dr. Nitzkin's statement as far as secondhand smoke is concerned? Would allowing smoking rolled-up cabbage, broccoli or carrot in your neighborhood bar be as great a long-term health risk to bartenders as it's claimed secondhand tobacco smoke is? Moreover, does this lowering of cancer risk by only one or two percent if all the carcinogens were removed pretty much make any future reference to the carcinogen number an act of anti-tobacco propaganda? And where does that leave the 4000 chemicals in tobacco smoke? And does that make the 1000 chemicals in coffee benign, since combustion is not in the equation?

Doctor?
.

Gravatar no understanding of tobacco-related science

"tobacco-related science"? There is NO SUCH THING. Your so-called "science" is nothing more than biased personal dislike of a legal product.......better yet, as we've recently shown, it is not so much the product as it is the fact that people actually LIKE burning a natural leaf and inhaling the smoke into their lungs, and it is that act which you want eliminated.

None of your so-called "science" has been able to come up with any appreciable risk, not without torturing and manipulating the real numbers that is.

Seriously, there is NO SCIENCE behind your movement..........it's nothing more than hate mongering and IF that hate crimes bill passes and becomes law, I plan on using it to have your movement prosecuted, especially since there are public documents PROVING the "denormalization" was DELIBERATE!

I cannot wait for the day I see your kind brought to your knees for your disgusting campaigns against humanity.

Gravatar So will there now be a new movement called, Cabbage free kids? While Dr. Nitzkin may have made his disapproval known and while I may have agreed with some of what he said, he can not prove that smoking cabbage is dangerous, just like you have no proof that smoking tobacco is. Face it, writing studies does not prove a thing, other than being some fantastic reading. I have always enjoyed fiction.

Gravatar "...and people smoked as much of that stuff as they did cigarettes and inhaled it as deeply into their lungs at that very hot temperature, they would get the same risk of heart disease, cancer and other diseases." Since lowering tar in cigarettes needs added ventilation, and adding air merely causes a burning substance to burn harder, thus increasing the temperature,WHO IS TO BLAME ? Switching to moister handrolling tobacco ,smoking cigars or a pipe all reduce the burning temperature.Removing burn accelerants/enhancers and the myriad of other added chemicals surely impacts ? How many people would take their car to a dentist or doctor to have it repaired ? Why must we as smokers put up with dimwits who have never smoked in their lives, make statements on something they only have minimal knowledge of ?

Gravatar M,
You are right that a manufacturer cannot claim that a product is "safer" unless it gets FDA approval, which would require long-term epidemiologic studies and is practically, if not literally, impossible.

However, the legislation contains a clause which allows companies to market products as "reduced exposure" products, meaning that they can advertise that the cigarette has reduced levels of a particular chemical (or has eliminated that chemical entirely), as long as the company reasonably expects that future research would show that the product is safer. No proof is necessary!

It's the deception of the public all over again, except now instead of being perpetrated by the tobacco companies, it will be perpetrated by the federal government!

"The advantages of smoke-based remedies are rapid delivery to the brain, more efficient absorption by the body and lower costs of production. This review highlights the fact that not enough is known about medicinal smoke and that a lot of natural products have potential for use as medicine in the smoke form. Furthermore, this review argues in favor of medicinal smoke extended use in modern medicine as a form of drug delivery and as a promising source of new active natural ingredients."

However, I can guarantee that no one will start smoking cabbage, I once threw some cabbage stumps on a bonfire, the appalling sulphurous stench was overwhelming and spread through the neighbourhood.

Gravatar Thanks, Dr. Siegel.

But isn't that what those "Omni 1-2-3" cigarettes, with progressively lower nicotine levels, did a few years ago? The CFTFK was all over Vector for those. Or is the difference that no one could verify those claims, and now the FDA can?

Gravatar Sorry, totally OT but quite alarming:

Is this Austrian journalist accusing the WHO and the UN of biomedical mass murder or is she totally unbalanced?

After all I have read and learnt over the last 4 or 5 years, I wouldn't be surprised if it were indeed true. This doesn't tell much of my level of confidence towards those WHO pretend to work for our good does it?

This is right up Kevin's alley and I would be most interested to hear his opinion along with everyone else's of course.

Austrian Journalist files BioTerrorism Charges against WHO, UN

http://macedoniaonline.eu/conten...t/view/7289/54/

Excerpts of a very long article:

Burgermeister's dossier reveals that the release of the virus was to be an essential step for triggering a pandemic that would allow the WHO to declare a Level 6 Pandemic. She lists the laws and decrees that would allow the UN and WHO to take over the United States in the event of pandemic. In addition, legislation requiring compliance with mandatory vaccinations would be put into force in the U.S. under conditions of pandemic declaration.

She charges that the entire "swine flu" pandemic business is premised on a massive lie that there is no natural virus out there that poses a threat to the population. She presents evidence leading to the belief that the bird flu and swine flu viruses have, in fact, been bioengineered in laboratories using funding supplied by the WHO and other government agencies, among others. This "swine flu" is a hybrid of part swine flu, part human flu and part bird flu, something that can only come from laboratories according to many experts.

Gravatar Sorry my second sentence of the above post should read:

Is this Austrian journalist accusing the WHO and the UN of biomedical mass murder totally unbalanced or could there be some truth in this?

It appears a lot of people caught a bit of a cold when we were all supposed to be dying of bird flu, there are massive stockpiles of Tamiflu waiting for an pandemic that never came.
When they started mentioning Swine Flu, I checked the suppliers forums, it seems that they go out of date in 2010.
Tamiflu is also used as a preventative medicine.
"Since Tamiflu also works as a preventative against the flu, if your child is around someone with the flu and they haven't had a flu shot, they can also take Tamiflu so that they don't get sick with the flu"
http://pediatrics.about.com/od/ k..._tamiflu_se.htm

Sars, binge drinking, MRSA, MMR, avian flu, swine flu: in the last decade they have all been the headline subject of major health scares. And the man whose job it is to evaluate the risks, develop a strategy and issue advice on each of these matters is the chief medical officer, Sir Liam Donaldson."

"Donaldson has spent many years and a lot of effort arguing that we need to prepare for a pandemic virus. Avian flu looked like it might be a contender in 2005, and Donaldson warned that 750,000 global deaths was "not impossible". In the event, the figure stayed in the low hundreds. But as a consequence of the CMO's precautionary approach, Britain has one of the largest stockpiles of flu drugs in the world."

"His most notable success, and the one with which his name may remain most closely associated, has been the banning of smoking in public places. In 2002 he proposed such a ban and was told by the government that it would "never happen". Five years later it was law.

Alan Milburn had been health secretary in 2002. Both Newcastle United fans, the pair had worked on the 2000 NHS plan together and enjoyed a close working and social relationship. But Milburn resigned and was replaced by John Reid, who was determined to limit any smoking ban.

Donaldson stuck to his guns and, effectively opposing his boss, drove the campaign for the ban, which came into force in 2007. Although there is data to suggest that the ban has already had a beneficial impact on health, Donaldson is not satisfied. He wants to see smoking brought down to the "gold standard" of California, where only 14% of the population smokes. "The first thing you see when you walk into a supermarket is a wall of cigarette packets," he said. "We need to do something about that, and let's get the cigarette out of Kate Moss's mouth."

Gravatar I remembered the rush for Star Anise to make Tamiflu.

Doctors, Patients Rush to Stockpile Tamiflu
"October 13, 2005
Tamiflu is surpassing oil as the world's most sought-after substance. The prescription drug made by Roche is one of the few drugs currently in production that is known to help fight viral flu-type infections.

Governments worldwide are stockpiling Tamiflu as they brace for the annual flu season and the prospect that the virus responsible for avian flu mutates and jumps to humans. Roche has reported that demand for the drug has jumped sevenfold in the past two months.

Drug stores in the U.S. filled almost 87,000 prescriptions for Tamiflu during the eight weeks ended Oct. 7, up from about 13,000 a year earlier, according to data released today by market researcher Verispan LLC"

"In many cases, patients who know about the drug are asking their physicians for prescriptions now, hoping to have a stockpile on hand if a pandemic breaks out. Most physicians seem willing to write the prescriptions.

Swiss-based Roche says it is working with other manufacturers to begin producing massive quantities of the drug. It is made from an acid produced from the Chinese star anise plant, which is in limited supply because it is grown in only four provinces in China and is harvested between March and May.

However, Roche says that is has recently developed a way to make the acid, called Shikimic acid, without the plant.

The World Health Organization last year recommended governments stockpile the Tamiflu capsule or Relenza, an inhalable antiviral drug made by GlaxoSmithKline.

Gravatar "During the Tulip Bulb Mania people throughout Holland were speculating with tulip bulbs trying to make a profit. During the Tulip Bulb Mania the bulbs were traded on local market exchanges. People traded everything for these bulbs. They never intended to plant the bulbs. They were purchased with the intention of selling them again for a higher price. Property, animals and money were all traded for these bulbs. Some varieties of tulips could cost more than an Amsterdam house at the time.

Eventually the tulip market began to decline as some people began to liquidate their tulips bulbs and other tulip bulbs were introduced to the supply. Quickly after this, there was a panic in which everyone started realizing that tulips were not worth the prices. people were paying for them. In less than 6 weeks the tulip prices crashed by over 90%. When the mania was over, the price of tulips dropped from a high of $76,000 to less than one dollar"

Gravatar Iro,

What Burgermeister is getting at is not new. But, her filing criminal charges is. The story seems to have been released by the Macedonian International News Agency. This is a very serious story. As far as I’m aware, the story was not picked up in the ‘controlled’ media across the West. (For example, a lead story in the Australian media today is a footballer defecating in a hotel corridor!) This is critical information. Why has it not been passed on to the public? Why can the media be influenced so? This is a telling sign already.

I was never particularly given over to ‘conspiracy’ theories, as such. But, considering particular international/national patterns of influence over the last century, it becomes more difficult to reject that there is a deranged ‘grand’ plan in motion. There is a group of folk (the global elite) that demonstrate that they believe they should rule the world, unfettered by national sovereignty, with a much smaller, ‘manageable’ population. The US has been a sticking point, given the nature of its constitution and its status as a super power. There has been great effort over the last half century to dumb-down, particularly, the US population and to popularize moral relativism and conformity to superficiality (i.e., materialism).

The critical aspects of the ‘plan’ involve a transfer of critical power from national governments to the UN and EU in the case of globally-threatening catastrophe/emergency (e.g., economic, disease). The infrastructure for power transfer is already essentially in place. Consider the EU: Who would have thought immediately after WII with Germany annexed, that within half a century there would be a ‘United States’ of Europe with a reunified Germany being a major player? It reflects a bloodless, corporate-based coup. Hitler was attempting a similar conclusion through invasion. The UN/EU combine reflects a highly destructive, global-dominating potential.

The current swine-flu ‘pandemic’ appears to be a dry run. The flu does not need to be actually life-threatening. It simply becomes the pretext to force the population to vaccinate. The vaccine can be dangerous. The economic crisis does not seem to have peaked: The worse seems yet to come. A combination of economic meltdown and a pandemic could completely redefine the global status quo. Produce unbearable chaos/fear. Then, offer the solution – global governance.

The pharmaceutical cartel, the petrochemical cartel, the military industrial complex are all part of the globalist arsenal. It is the international bankers and the mega-wealthy that are the string-pullers. They may play their hand sooner than later given that they are attracting more scrutiny than they possibly planned on. Even their tax/laudering havens are starting to attract attention.

From an earlier post:
There is little that ‘old mega-money’ does not control. Through an interconnected web of particular industries, ‘philanthropic’, ‘health’, political and educational foundations, there is effective control of government, the banking system, the medical establishment, education, media, and the legal establishment the world over. It began with Rothschild and Rockefeller early last century. The domination was added to by Carnegie, Ford, Lasker and, more recently, Johnson (RWJF) and Gates. Note Thomson-Iserbyt’s work in particular. For the last half-century there has been the intentional removal of the idea of absolute right and wrong in the educational setting. It has been replaced with moral relativism or situational ethics, where the end justifies the means. It has been accomplished through Skinnerian operant conditioning. Children are rewarded when they learn ideological maxims and comply with agenda. The goal has been to nurture the future ‘global citizen’ – a person that is compliant and risk-aversive – a person that will not question the conduct of the ‘Rewarder’ State.

Gravatar I just reread todays "Rest of the Story" and saw that the quote I attributed to Dr. Siegel actually belonged to Dr. Nitzen. The quote was a lot longer than I thought.

The good news, Dr. Siegel's credibility is fully restored with my apologies.

The bad news, Dr. Nitzen doesn't know what he is talking about.

Also, if first hand smoke isn't that hot to begin with, second hand smoke can't be any warmer and so its temperature poses no health threat to people who smell it.

Refering to Wynders original work...

The combustion zone of cigarettes averaged a temperature of 438 degrees C (820 degrees F) ... but the smoke as it came out of the back of a Camel cigarette without a filter varied from 80.6 to 140 degrees F. Smoke cools very quickly over very short distances. Whatever the temperature of the smoke is as it is drawn from the cigarette it might possibly always tend to equal body temperature before it reaches the lungs. The addition of a filter to the cigarette, which effectively lengthens the distance the smoke has to travel, would work to cool the smoke even more.

No temperature measurements were made of side stream smoke but the cooling dynamic would probably be very similar to first hand smoke.

Gravatar But if you're quoting Dr. Nitzkin at such great length today because you agree with him then your credibility is still shot.

Gravatar Rick,

I am weighing the whole thing rationally and here's what bothers me about this story.

I can believe (and I do) everything about globalization and corporate/gov't control. Fascism if you prefer. I can also understand that Big Pharma would want us sick for profit. But why would they want us dead? What good is a dead person to anyone's profits? The only thing worse than a healthy person for a drug company is a dead person. Why would they want to kill their customers? Make them sick with the vaccines, yes I can see it, but kill 5 billion people in a span of 10 years? Why? Power and control? They can get this with the money they make when they invent or artificially create diseases to better cure us with their products, why would they want us dead? And even if for some obscure reason (I didn't read your links yet) they want to kill us, how do they expect to pull this off? When 500 million people per year die after being administered the vaccine, how do they expect people not to suspect that it is the vaccine causing it and force the masses to get vaccinated like sheep going to the slaughter house?

M, I think you are precisely correct and very insightful in noting that this is exactly what Omni cigarettes and several other brands have done. They claimed that they had lower levels of certain carcinogens (which was apparently well-documented). For that, they were attacked by CFTFK.

Now, the FDA is authorized to allow exactly the same claims to be made, except now they will be legal and fully authorized claims. The deception of the public will also be the same, but now it will have the blessing of the federal government.

Now I think people are starting to see what a scam this really is.

Gravatar Iro;
The UN sees the world through some pretty sickly eyes at times.

Pol Pot described the killimg fiels as burning away the chaff so that the new grass could grow.

We have a number of countries including China, the USA and Canada facing what is known as an aging population. The resources to finance the costs of all those old people are not available, so what do you suppose is the easiest solution when you can put humanity and ethics aside?

I would not put anything out of the realm of possibilities, as far as the Government financed Nazis dictating "Public Health" are concerned.

Autonomy is the least of their worries at the moment obviously, the confidence that they would not be jailed for the acts we have already seen, has to come from somewhere.

Gravatar Well Michael;
Have you made it through the first chapter of Vincent's book yet? Care to comment on the real fraud and deceptions being foisted on an unsuspecting public?

Big Tobacco was never as crooked as Big Epidemiology. It was Hitlers favorite tool of community divisions as well.

When can we expect to witness Vincent's assignment as a "stooge to big tobacco", by you and your friends, as is the customary TC text book response, when your denials system starts to act up?

Vincent's version of science likely predates your education. Old school as I remember it, when science was aligned with integrity and ethics.

Gravatar Heh... while I agree with a lot of the criticisms of the FDA bill, this particular quote from Dr. Nitzkin reminds me of the problem we have when nonsmokers try to understand smoking:

""The one additive that really makes a difference is menthol, which is both a flavoring and a local anesthetic. And the purpose of menthol was to make cigarette smoking accessible to people who otherwise could not tolerate the harsh feel and taste of the smoke"

If such a researcher were not too afraid of the "incredibly addictive power of nicotine" and was a nonsmoker, they could try taking a single medium puff from an unfiltered Pall Mall and then one from a filtered, mentholated full-flavor Kool. They'd probably cough unpleasantly with each of the two, but they'd likely find that even though the Kool was the second in the experiment that the irritation experienced was actually far more harsh than with the Pall Mall.

Somewhere along the line this bit of "folk knowledge" superstition about menthol making it "easier to inhale irritating smoke deep into the lungs" became a truism believed by almost everyone in the antismoking movement... but it's not true. Once past the throat there's no generally perceived "irritation" problem from smoke, menthol or plain. And I believe the menthol itself produces more of a burning sensation than an anesthetic sensation to a throat not accustomed to it.

Gravatar We hear all the cries for the children every day and the denormalization of innocent people who would do them harm.

The meta of all the ETS risk assignments to date, including inconsistent studies and any cherry picked piece of prediction including the kitchen sink. Knowledge to date indicates a controversial .26 increased RR and we see an international outrage. Against what even the EPA has called the fourth leading cause of death in the industrialized world.

Ominously omitted from causes of death are the medical slaughter of the innocents and a number of other known risk factors which could be escalated in the same fashion, without a single death certificate to regions well above ETS.

Diesel exhaust despite years of procrastination was also placed on the known human carcinogens list at about the same time ETS was rubber stamped by a much less scientific course.

No controversy or denials exist Diesel exhaust carries a 40% higher RR than ETS and the WHO doesn't even mention it?

The child advocacy groups who rail as a cult against the pregnant smoker who will be tortured without end for daring to put her child at risk, when not one of them would even mention to her or anyone; that avoiding Trains and buses could reduce the risk to her child by such a wide margin above the risks of ETS?

All the Charities who advise us of inherent risks and drive smokers out in the cold where their exposure to a much higher risk will be increased dramatically?

Where are the wails for those poor children trapped helplessly and being forced to smoke Diesel Exhaust on their way to school every morning?

Or the mother who rides the subway on the way to visit their doctor, not knowing the risk she is exposing her child to on the way?

For the children or for the fraud and personal satisfaction? You have all lost credibility not only in what you preach but more in what you choose to ignore.

If ETS as ASH tells us kills 50,000 non smokers every year in the States. By numeric equivalents of the RRs this would mean Diesel exhaust would have to be killing 70,000 non smokers alone. But only if we can believe everything we hear out of Public Health experts fraudulent ad campaigns.

So where is the outrage against the evil Oil industry, who kill many more consumers and innocents than tobacco ever did, while using the products [many products] as directed.

If a tobacco barn burns, there is no need to evacuate the neighborhood. If a plastics warehouse burned the standard procedure, calls for immediate evacuation and respirators for the firefighters with separate oxygen supplies.

Why would anyone make safety rules which seem to be backward to what we are being told in respect to immediate and substantial risk?

Because Public health and its medico-fascist community, is as crooked as they are inconsistent in their own faith in what they preach.

Gravatar MJM;

"irritation" problem from smoke, menthol or plain. And I believe the menthol itself produces more of a burning sensation than an anesthetic sensation to a throat not accustomed to it."

Menthol as with nicotine limits the amount inhaled, biological reactions are violent and immediate when you move beyond your limits.

Unfortunately for the faithful and the useful idiots, they won't hear any of it. They know what they have been taught in brain wash up class, anything else is believed to be delusional or corrupt, especially the real world and its wealth of factual information.

Gravatar "[T]he purpose of menthol was to make cigarette smoking accessible to people who otherwise could not tolerate the harsh feel and taste of the smoke."

Why doesn't anti-tobacco ever say that about Lights and Milds?

Gravatar How about that Nicorette

"Extreme chill gum"

Is there a racist message hidden in the commercials if you play them backwards?

Gravatar Another defeat to the antis is in the realm of tobacco stocks. Earlier I suggested that giving Altria market domination could only be a positive.

In that vein... this is not the first stock analyst to lean this way since FDA was awarded control, but it makes a point I hadn't yet heard from the others that's outstanding:

Tobacco Stocks May Thrive Despite FDA Regulation
July 6, 2009
http://online.wsj.com/article/ SB...0496015432.html

Many people feel uncomfortable about the idea of investing in tobacco stocks and “profiting from smoking.” But if you benefit from any government services you already are. Average state, local and federal taxes come to about $2.14 per pack. Big government and big tobacco are increasingly hard to distinguish. That, too, may reassure investors.

I think that's quite a useful little opinion

Gravatar Hi Iro,

Fair point.

With catastrophe/terror potentially unleashed in a variety of ways, typical communications would be compromised. With the little controlled media there is and probable martial law, it wouldn’t be surprising what can be ‘accomplished’ in destructive terms. You keep telling people that it is the ‘disease’ (or some other external danger) that is doing the killing, and the vaccine (or internment for ‘safety’) is the best hope. In a confused, confounded, fearful, displaced state, people don’t necessarily think well. Remember that it is deception that reigns. I think, ultimately, the carnage can even become quite overt, if conformity is not forthcoming.

Some thoughts from the Reich on how brutality/murder can be unleashed without opposition:
“Hitler's contention that free will is a burden to the masses was confirmed by the popular reaction. Said one young Nazi to the press in the glory days of the Reich: "We Germans are so happy - we are free of freedom." (Sklar, p.152) For many, it was a relief not to be saddled with personal convictions and responsibility for what was happening, as a perceptive professor reflected after the war: "I suppose we were grateful. Who wants to think?" (see _They Thought They Were Free_, Milton Mayer) …………
But under it all, the abject fear was instilled in SS men of being found unworthy of their exalted status, especially through the sin of independent thinking. The group-think to which they had been subjected since early childhood sank to new depths to minimize the chances of such a mishap. A required achievement for SS candidates was Kadavergehorsam, or "dead-body [unfeeling, robotic] obedience". In merciless drills, they were trained to disregard their own emotions and consciences by performing acts of brutality on self and others usually associated with satanic cult rituals. (See descriptions in Sklar, p.96-100) (Such practices in satanism are meant to produce an altered state of consciousness and, as they believe, to channel the natural horror response into psychic energy which empowers spells.) In the resulting numbness, they could carry out the most horrific orders without thinking, and walk among sickening sights without flinching”.

You’re touching on the very critical idea of intent. Kevin’s observations are quite apt. However, being Christian, I can offer a view (personal) with another layer (very briefly). You’ll do with it as you will.

Why would they (the ‘Hierarchy’) want to produce catastrophe? Ultimately, for complete control – particularly of mind. A smaller population (I’m not sure what this might be) is ‘manageable’ and also clears what it considers the ‘riff-raff’ of humanity. Also, bear in mind that it will not necessarily succeed in all its undertakings. We are discussing intent here.

Materialism can have two aspects: atheistic or occultic. Atheism has been used over the last half-century to water-down moral/religious belief in the West. Atheists have been led to believe that societies were jettisoning ‘obsolete’ religious belief (usually Christianity). Rather, what has been occurring is that the contrary to Christianity, anti-Christianity, has been given a large foothold and allowed to flourish. In other words, there is the real God and the imposter: There is no ‘atheistic’ fence to sit on. Atheism is purely transitional from the real to the fake. Atheism, too, will go by the wayside. There is plenty of evidence that there has been a long lineage of occultic (e.g., Masonic - Satanic) belief in the halls of worldly power. Hitler, too, was given over to occultic belief. The swastika, for example, is an occultic symbol: A reversed swastika, as with the Nazis, is a negative occultic symbol. We are not dealing here with sheer greed or avarice, bad as that may be: Global control of industry is only a twisted means to a ‘bigger picture’, twisted end. It is far more sinister than that. That’s why many cannot comprehend the intent: Most people do not typically reason in such evil terms (or even in such profoundly good terms). It is an attempt to institute (substitute - fakery) itself as god, with a figurehead. It is unmerited worship that is ultimately sought. It is a battle for mind by dumbing it down into unquestioning worship. By not keeping the way open to genuine spiritual teaching, it opens up the way for a fake version on a grand scale. And, there is a great cost.

As an exercise, do a google search of freemasonry. You’ll be surprised by how many governmental members of a variety of nations, and even ‘religious’ folk, have been masons (usually higher-grade members). The lower grades of freemasonry are probably ‘social-club’ like. Yet, they provide the recruitment-potential for the higher grades where satanic ritual/worship appears to be essential.

People really need to take a long, hard, honest look at what they believe, particularly in metaphysical (spiritual) terms. If you would indulge me a few quotes by Jesus: “If you are my disciples (followers, learning from me), you will know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8: 31-32). Everyone is following something. Most do not realize what they follow. The truth is far beyond the insanity of the worldly system. What would the truth make you free to? – your reality which is in Holiness (a profound gift). What would it make you free from? – deception, which costs real vision. Consider, too, the following: “By their fruits you will know them” (Matthew 7: 16-20); “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18 ). The world runs on the constant reinforcement of fear. The way the worldly system of thought ‘deals’ with fear, its own production, is to try to become numb (robotic) to it, ridicule it, or blame someone/something else. None of these clear it. The actual goal is to release all the twisted thinking (requiring Holy help) producing fear and condemnation, so that real Love might enter awareness. There is no battle between two equal opposing forces. Only one (God) is real (Love), the other is a state (fear), produced by a fake framework of thought that is ultimately a denial of Love. Have you not noticed that Jesus has been particularly ‘denormalized’ through materialism? Mention Jesus, and many have a reaction similar to that of a rabid antismoker to a smoker/smoking – a source of great threat to be removed.

The following link provides some useful insights into occultic ideas that were fundamental to Nazism and now (i.e., continuation) to UN agenda. The Hierarchy views a ‘purge’ (mass murder) as a necessary, most useful step to bring about an evolution in the consciousness of humanity. Insane? Yes. It is all based on a denial of Love.

Gravatar RickDP, "Everyone is following something. Most do not realize what they follow. The truth is far beyond the insanity of the worldly system. What would the truth...."

Just wanted to thank you for saying what I have been feeling. Your words
and explanations of the simplest things is IMO proflund and extremely educational.

Gravatar You're welcome, David.

Gravatar Rick,

I read your comments with as much an open mind as I can muster. I always thought that money is the root of all evil and most wrongdoings are motivated by money, but I also know that there are in fact profoundly evil people out there. What I perhaps refuse to believe is that there are so many of them that they can succeed to shape the world according to their machiavelic plans without being stopped. I hope I am right.

Gravatar Iro;

Compared to Rockefeller Machiavelli was an amateur.

The oil Industry has reigned supreme over science and medicine for over a hundred years, that takes craft and cunning.

Today we see the prophets talking about minor exposures to an essentially benign ETS, as a major cause of mortality and morbidity. Have you ever seen an official list of "causes" [definitive risk] or the far more remote risk factor [relative risks] that includes any oil or petrochemical products?

How about doctors as a cause?

As already mentioned Diesel exhaust with little unbaised controversay carries a 40% higher relative risk than ETS, yet the "protectors of the children" rarely voice any level of concern in public.

Talk to the Lung specialists and they will freely admit they have known of the corrosive effect Diesel has on the lungs for decades it turns your lungs into soup and like cancer it is an extremely painful and long term process. Just as any competent neurologist will tell you that exposure to gasoline fumes is well known to cause large numbers of brain tumors, although it is impossible to get them to put it on paper.

That know ledge is never seen on the six o'clock news, however if you take the time to ask;the truth is there, it seems many just don't feel comfortable looking at it, they call it denials, I call it empowering corruption.

Gravatar Iro;
I see it as more as, what is worse?
A battle over turf held in check by fear? or supremacy over a one world population mass, through ideology that requires superstitious fear.

Order is required to stabilize wealth and the inherent value of that wealth.

Turf which was once defined as the Iron Curtain was kept in check by the simplicity of first strike. When viewed as insanity which would cause more harm to either than any advantage they could ever hope to achieve.

Ideology seen today as a meld of socialism and capitalism, where the leaders of industry are seen as Gods because they control the pulpit.

As Mussolini described it "industrial socialism".

They silenced the use of the word fascist as a hail Mary in a lost argument, which leads people to look away when they see the parallels.

McCarthyism was in support of personal freedom, they twisted it to mean a support of communism and socialism.

They eliminate competition for large Industry in the destruction of free markets, by imposing every rule and level of taxation upon taxation possible, to stand in the way of a self employed individual.

Small business was once the heart and life blood of commerce and individual resource which held the faith in the free market strong, in a symbiotic relationship with trust and freedom. The great American dream?

Where are we now and where are we going? Few can answer beyond the always popular and encouraged chant, that the public wants "change" how many elections have been won over the past decade with the promise of change? How many of those changes were helpful?

Chaos rules because few know what they want or where they want to go. They just don't think it fair that someone else might be more comfortable than they are. Looking back to a time when we actually felt free could be an option, if it were not out of fashion, to side with so called dinosaurs.

Although I am not a follower of any organized religion in the traditional sense. I do know many who are comforted by their faith. That comfort has been attacked far too often of late, to leave any of us felling comfortable while pondering the origins of that promotion.

Gravatar We have all seen the media rendition of 911 and how many of our rights were opportunistically subverted, by that one desperate act?

The target of the terrorists is seldom considered.

Government, seen in the UN as the primary target and the pentagon and White house as secondary symbols of government they oppose.

Most of us fail to understand; how one institution that exists above the law, which is staffed by corruption and political patronage, and now partnered [or owned by]with the largest industries on the planet, has such a large power over all of us.

Global warming? Flu pandemics? Smoking? Obesity?

Where is traditional science and discussion? Where are the facts and why do "facts" require stakeholders, ad hoc consensus, scoping, framework, actors and working groups to archive viability?

All organized after the fear factor is established?

There was a time when the facts preceded the need for protection.

Gravatar McCarthyism was in support of personal freedom,

I am sorry I thought long and hard before I decided to respond to this one. I just couldn't let it slide. I don't know what your are smoking but it defiantly is not tobacco. The McCarthy era had absolutely nothing to do with personal freedom. unless you considering censuring and blacklisting those that you don't agree with personal freedom. Were some of them communist? Probably! But in a so called free society you have that right. ( am an avid libertarian and as such believe that you have the right to believe anything you want as long as you want as long as you don't infringe on the rights of others. Make make no mistake no mistake about it , McCarthyism was as totalitarian as any fascist, communist or dictatorship could be. You could believe whatever you wanted as long as you agreed with those in power. I hate to be mean and I actually apologize for it, but I think you really should look into the history of the era before you make such a statement.
