Yes, fine, excellent column. Please don't say "the reason why". Next thing ya know, you'll be saying something like, "basically the reason why is because". Maybe try something like, "Just another reason that the proposed FDA tobacco legislation is a seriously flawed proposal." If you feel the need to delete "that," then go right ahead. Yes, I know that many people say "reason why," but you're better than many people...aren't you?
Alternatively, you could say, "This column illuminates another reason to use the proposed FDA legislation as kindling." This would be a good alternative because it demonstrates that the proposed FDA legislation would CAUSE SMOKE.

Well, I'm not funded by BT either. However, I will make you a wager. If you get this legislation to go the whole way--and I mean right down to getting the tobacco companies to put themselves out of business--I will send you a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant and you can have an 86-proof-anything-you-want on me. I don't believe it will happen. However, if I'm wrong, then I will certainly put my money where your mouth is.
For what it's worth, you should see what I did to the McFadden/Kuneman study. LOL, I don't think they're speaking to me anymore!!!
PS--On a personal note, I just got another paper accepted in the British journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology. [Expletive censored] I'm good. Cranky, but good.

Apparently the FDA and those that support just want to kill non-smokers. We should ban them for the protection of the non idiots.

LOL. No, I just went through the study and made some comments and suggestions. Truthfully, it was only a few pages. (The main idea was to improve readability, clarify the objective/motivation and add political warmth.) I sent it to them--but they can choose to do what they please with it.
