This is pure paranoia typical of the the anti gun crowd. NO ONE will be able to CARRY unlicensed semi-automatics or any other kind of weapon in the streets of DC or anywhere else. This is absurd.

Look at the 33-plus states that have mandatory issue CONCEALED weapon permits. Gun crime plummets in these states. These individuals are trained, screened by the FBI/DOJ, and have as good a firearms safety record as police officers. Less than 1/10 of a percent of CCW permits are revoked for ANY reason.

And less than 1 percent of all gun crime is committed with rifles of any type. (FBI UNIFORM CRIME REPORT) much less so-called assault weapons, which, due to their size, are unsuitable to be concealed by ill-doers.

This is the same hyperbole and paranoia that is repeated every time the citizens of a state come to their senses, and pass sensible, mandatory issue, concealed weapons licensing policy.

Again and again, the oft-repeated fears of old-west type shoot-outs NEVER play out in reality, and folks are safer because this reasonable gun policy.

Wake up, folks. What makes anyone think that a criminal who would stick a gun in the face of his fellow man would give a hoot about breaking a gun law? Criminals do, however, give a hoot about whether that act may be their last act upon the earth. And the deterrent effect is evidenced time and again when sensible carry legislation is enacted.

Good CCW law saves lives, period. Isn't that, after all, the point.

Apparently, the right bill passed the House and is on to the Senate.

From what I read in the press, it seems gun-toting Democrats joined with Republicans to pass the bill.

Or am I mistaken? I can never be too sure from what I read in the newspapers nor can I trust a Demon Rat led Congress.
