How do we, then, differentiate between ideas that are revolutionary (and hence don't get adopted right away) and those that are simply crap (and hence don't get adopted right away)?

Consider the example of the man who first thought the Earth was spherical. Talk about an uphill battle in the Sales Dept! over the vigerous objections of the religious, political, and scientific/intellectual communities.
