I think the problem will solve itself as time goes by. For a lot of people who were born way before the Internet, the sheer concept of giving out your credit card information online is frightening. I remember having a tought time persuading my father to let me use his credit card to shop on Amazon.co.uk - and they're one of the most reputable companies out there!
The hope with the SKIDS (Super Kids in Digital Space - a term coined by leadpile.com), who are the new generation that will come of age after the Internet was created. They're the people that set up their own MySpace profile at the age of 15, chat with friends on MSN, watch the latest videos on YouTube, shop at Amazon.com and have no qualms about using PayPal and eBay. They pretty much have the Internet at their fingertips - and they're not afraid to use it.

I agree completely George, it's more than likely just a generational thing and our generation (under 30) probably thinks more like we do.
