Gravatar Hey Adam,

I have been reading your blog and have been enjoying it. Good luck on all of your businesses and with keeping things in balance. My wife and I are going through the same thing. We purchased a small used bookstore a year and a half ago, and are currently in the final months of a long process of finding and acquiring a new building for an expansion into a coffeehouse/bookstore. If that wasn't enough work in itself, we found out that my wife was pregnant and will give birth to our first child a mere month before we are scheduled to open up. Oh yeah, in the middle of all of this, we started another business. I finally decided to turn my custom woodworking hobby into a money making venture. I also still have a separate full time job. I guess the idea of taking one thing at a time went right out the window.

My wife and I have had to force ourselves to stop working on business stuff early in the evening, so that we can reconnect after a long day and make sure that nothing comes between us. Marriage is hard enough as it is.

One good thing that our busy schedule has done for us is remind us of what is important in our life. Our marriage, our child, and our family and friends.

It is definitely a balancing act. Good luck.

Gravatar Thanks Jared, and best of luck to you and your wife with your exciting businesses. Definitely stay in touch.

Gravatar Adam - It is tough when you're passionate about something to just drop it for a minute, but I think it does allow you to recharge your batteries. Sometimes I can't leave the internet, but I realize that my best blog posts are after taking a night or day off. Keep it up.
