Good post Adam, definitely a problem that many young entrepreneurs face. Some handle it with ease, perhaps their new found wealth or new found entrepreneurial friends will replace them? For those entrepreneurs who have had life long friends and suddenly find them acting strange around them would be a much more important issue.

Great post, this is a much ignored issue in the young entrepreneur world. Since starting my businesses so young, I pretty much lost all of my friends. I still have contact with them, but their hobbies were no longer aligned with mine. My entire life became business, and not much more interested me. Maybe I was selfish. I was lucky in the fact that most of them were happy for my success when it happened... and they started to understand why I became such a shut-in for a while. While most people in their early 20's are social.. I am more into networking rather than making friends at a club or a bar.
Surprsingly, the more envious people in my life are my elders (parents, in-laws, aunts and uncles). This has been kind of hard to deal with.. but I can understand where they come from.. they've worked for 20+ years, and were loyal to a company, and they make much less than I do, which I imagine can hurt ones pride.
I have noticed it quite a bit with friends now and only hang out with a small amount and make friends with people that share my interest right now. It is crazy how one small change in direction in your life will effect the way people look at you, but oh well you have to do what makes you happy.
