The most basic objection to titles of nobility is that they're inherited. The considerable degree of power that has been taken away from the British monarchy just doesn't eliminate the fact that they're paying people to be hereditarily distinguished plutocrat assholes.
I'm sure Prince Charles might do one or two good things. But you know who else does one or two good things, or says one or two good things? Bush and McCain. It's window dressing and means nothing. Even if Prince Charles really was trying to help the world, that in no way takes away the injustice of the institution of his being a prince.
Also, we have our problems with the President over here being too strong, but that in no way takes away from the fact that the British shouldn't have nobles or a monarchy.
Finally, even if other countries in Europe have nobles from families that don't come from the country-- so what??? It just shows that 4 or 5 other countries (out of dozens of countries that make up Europe) have the same quirk. It doesn't make it any less ridiculous, in light of modern democratic values.
So your approach to blogging is to delete comments that disagree with your post. How very liberal.
