What folks are saying...

Gravatar I use a quote from St. Exupery when I do my work as a graphic artist (this is a rough quote): 'Good design is not about adding more but taking away everything that is not needed.' I don't think I'm much of a story teller (mostly because I can never come up with an ending!) but I know I try to remove every unnecessary thing when I write too. Blogging is great practice for this because I always feel like there is limited space.
And then there is the line writers always use: read. And read some more.
Will you tell us stories then?

Gravatar Watchout, you asked for advice and I've got some: I never edit alone! I'd be happy to help you trim down your work or change the pace or whatever needs to be done. Get a bazillion opinions and then follow the right direction, you can certainly learn to tell stories better but you have the core skills down. Truth is some folks might be "natural" storytellers and others come to it through hard work but we need the dang stories! Can the natural story-teller give you some feedback?
good luck with it...
Rachael

Gravatar You're learning a new medium, that always takes a lot of time and patience... Don't get too down on yourself if it comes slowly, no joke intended, the important part is that it will come. The only way it won't is if you give up. Don't give up!!! You're going to make something great!

Gravatar I've done the same thing myself a few times, and lack of coffee is a fine excuse, I use it frequently.

Gravatar thanks for pointing that out...blogger was fickle this morning, or maybe coffee hadn't kicked in. anyways, who knew it would publish 3 times??? note to self: beware of repetition, that'd be a good start to better storytelling!

Gravatar It was an interesting post, but one time would have sufficed.
