Mark...I see I am ignorant about stone -- do rocks in your area "grow" in slabs like this or do you cut them somehow? (The ones I find in this area are quite round.) And I am guessing you do not "glue" them in any way, but stack them carefully. How hard is it to do this? Do you often get them to a certain height only to have them all tumble down?

An exercise in balance then, and knowing which stone will accept and maintain which position and weight.

Do you put them in place where they will be seen; alongside roads perhaps? I love the idea of someone driving along, maybe 20 years on even, and wondering at these creations, imagining a tribe that left markers or trying to suss out a particular meaning, or wondering if the rocks organized themselves in an attempt at communication...!
