The people who pluck an idea from thin air, don't you think that idea comes from a distillation of things/ideas/experiences that have come before? So it comes from somewhere, it's the recognition of a pattern, or of the harmony/dissonance created by a planned or random juxtaposition of elements, but it's not original in the sense that it hasn't existed before, it's just that it hasn't been made visible before in just that way, does that make sense at all? I think it's not much different from someone who sees a (partially, because all things are incomplete) realized idea and builds on it. But pardon my incoherence, I went shopping today in the big city and I'm still getting over that.
