Um...since I'm nosey I've been to your photostream at Flickr...and I have to ask, where did you get those pics of the gals with the piercing? Coz that's just icky...LOL
And about the vikings...at least the ones who have their roots in Sweden came from Norway in the wee beginning.

Christa: Heh ... 'Moandays' ... I like that. As for the piercings, I collected them at Tisha's place ... http://www.tishasharp.com/ ... she's a hoot! Since I'm a Minnesota Son I understand WAY TOO WELL. Want some lutefisk with that lefsa?

Ah...it made me shudder just to watch it :p
And I can have the lutfisk any day, but I believe that lefsa belongs in Norway (or I'm not old enuf to remember it from Sweden...which would be the first one :p), so you can keep that

Christa: I was not disturbed by the pain, just the incredible risk of infection, scarring and explaining it to the parents!
As for the lutefisk, I'm from a hearty stock out of Glenwood Minnesota - the original site of Hungry Man Lutefisk TV Dinners! With all the Nordic interbreeding up there, we kinda got all that stuff mixed up. Oh, and there was Starbuck across the lake where the worlds largest Lefsa was made so we HAVE to have that!

Ah...yeah, I use to buy a lot of imported food from Sweden from a tiny store somewhere in Minnesota when I lived in L.A. And especially around Christmas. My husband back then (who was born in California) never understood how I could like lutfisk...lol
Here in the UK I can't find it though, so I have to settle for the turkey :p

Christa: Here you go, fresh! Stuff that turkey and glom onto something guaranteed to preserve your gizzard!

hehehe...I remember when Granny used to do that whole thing herself. The smell from the lye is unbelieveble.
With my luck I would probably poison anyone who would dare to taste it :pp
Next year...or something like that...I might ask my son to send me some from Sweden. Unless it's very against the import regulations here in good ol England of course...it's not worth getting arrested for :p
Thanks for the linky :D

Christa: Wow ... it cleans, perserved, disinfects AND makes a tasty treat, eh? I too would be a bit wary of a 'do it yourself lutefisk' meal. I'm not sure if there would be an import restriction ... it might be classified as a biological hazard though!

LOL...that looks like a recipe for scrapple :s But I saw that it had something to do with sausages...
Blood pudding is nice...over here it's called Black pudding and is more common in Scotland than in this part of England. And yesterday (I think it was) I had Haggis...which is something else that you don't want to see the recipe for, but it taste like heaven together with fried eggs, potatoes and sweet rootbeat :p
That's another Scotish dish that I've kinda redesigned a bit. You can get a kind of Haggis in Sweden too, but it's not cooked in the same way.
To some people it doesn't matter though...they wouldn't eat it at all
We should start a food forum somewhere...LOL
