I've seen a problematic behavior pattern that is the *opposite* of this one. Some sales people, referring to their company, use the term "they" instead of "we." For example, "They have a major new improvement for the Gerbilator product," instead of "We have a major new improvement.." Very strange, and I've never known sales reps using this phrasing to become very successful.
