Gravatar Often, you will get very generic kinds of responses: "the future of this industry will be greatly influenced by information technology and by the shift to the knowledge economy; also by the changing ethnic mix of our population."

Ask them how *this* industry will specifically be impacted by these changes and how it will differ from the impact on other industries.

Often, people will speak in terms so generic that they could apply equally to the diesel locomotive industry and to the fashion industry. These are good people to avoid hiring.

Gravatar Remember Anthony was complaining about having to force candidates to tell him what they did personally as opposed to what their teams did?

Getting people to be specific is a very tough thing. Either they want to be evasive, or they don't really know, or they've never thought it through.
