Iceland is a small country. Canada has responsibility for a large and largely useless geographic mass and the people who live in it. Newfoundland, The Northwest Territories, etc; these are not productive areas but they are full of people. Doesn't that bring our numbers down.

Jon, Newfoundland is a big rock. Fishing was the main industry and that is seasonal. But the fisherman of Canada and other countries have over-fished the cod. Now the government has imposed strict limits on how much can be fished and that put a lot of people out of businesss.
Newfoundland has an oil industry but at present it is not large like that in Alberta. If I'm wrong, Anthony, please correct me.
And, the Northwest Territories? Are they anything more but scrub pines, snow and extreme cold?
I don't know if you're Canadian but Canada is mainly a band of land a few hundred miles wide along the American border. The rest is Canadian Shield and tundra.
