[raising hand] Part of the problem.
Actually, I'll lay more of this on the Wife. Caroline was Snow White for Halloween. The Wife bought her one of the Princesses storybooks for Christmas. I leafed through it. These characters, BRANDS really, are written into everyday little stories. "Snow White goes to the Beach" or "Ariel Makes a New Friend" or "Cinderella's 'Special Friend' Pays a Visit" you know, for the pre-teens.
I don't know if this is a good thing or not (I mean, apart from the blatant, soul-sucking commercialism). They are comforatble characters, so why not expand them? On the other hand, it seems like it will take some luster off of the wonderful fairy tales. One day Belle is living with the Beast in an enchanted castle. The next, she has a condo and is going to a cookout.
