Tell It Like It Is

I suppose it depends a bit on what you want your blog to be. Lots of tunes does indeed get hits, but most people are unlikely to stop to read it. I myself like the ones that are a bit more personal, so you feel you can get to know the blogger a bit. Just being a resource for people using the Hype Machine to song-mine doesn't strike me as being all that satisfying.
Just one opinion.

I agree with that last comment. And to tell you the truth, Ive only d/l two songs from this blog in the near 2 months since I stumbled upon it... so it's not really the mixtapes that keep me showing up here.
I guess I dig the quotes.
Keep up the good work.

Had the same problem when one my contributors started posting mixtapes. Yes, you get lots of hits, but if you track the hits you find no one stays around long enough to read the content - they just grab the links or the songs and get out of there. I guess the best approach is to mix it up a little, keeping in mind of course that the mixtapes are also a reflection of your musical leanings.

I like the posts where you describe the artist and song a little, I find that a much better way of guaging whether or not I think I will like the song, rather than just hitting the preview button and hoping. But it's your blog at the end of the day!

I like the quotations and the illustrations - I always appreciate the fact that you've tried to put a theme around what it is that you're posting, whatever the media. And I agree with Matthew - the blogs that I find the most engaging are the ones where I hear the writer's voice rather than just look at their record collection.
Maybe try out a few kinds of posts - see which ones you enjoy writing the most and take it from there.

If you want to do more writing and maybe post fewer tracks, then follow that inclination. It's your blog - people will like it or they won't - don't let that change your course. I like this blog a lot and have d/l'd some great songs. Thanks for your work here.

Its your blog... which has eclectic sounds, a catholic range of styles and and finally inspirational confusions; quotes, images, aaand 'feet'.
So my friend carry on as you feel and take me and fellow visitors on your journey...its cool, I'm enjoying it, ta mate.
Ps. wouldn't mind some acknowledgement of sounds to celebrate Trojan Records 40th anniversary, the label that one could say got Jamaican music movinnn...Merz, one love to you

guess almost everything has been said... just do what you feel is best for your blog! A mixtape from time to time is good to attract more people, but with more written content (especially when they're as interesting as the ones you write), you might even keep some of those new people around not only for the downloads. Well, you never really know... guess that's the downside we bloggers have to live with!
Anyway, I hope you keep delivering Mars with your guitars! All the best!
