Mike,
I ran a marathon about 4 years ago. What a great experience, it is amazing what a person can train their body to do! I am no super-athlete by any means, but I put in the time and the miles and finished about 3 seconds faster than my goal! Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck on your training.

Delayed response - Thanks for the encouragement, Frank. I've tried a couple of different training strategies in my past efforts, neither of which was successful. I always seem to work myself up to the 10-12 mile mark and then cannot recover from that peak - weeks afterward I struggled just to get even a 5 mile run completed, whereas the training schedule (from from Road Runners club) would have me forging ahead to 14-15 mile range. So I'm trying another strategy this time, we'll see how it goes - I've got plenty of time to experiment between now & the 2009 Marathon, as long as I don't get injured.
