Gravatar It´s contagious: You even caused me to have some nice feelings of days gone by and I grew up in Washington and Los Angeles and didn´t see Pittsburgh until in my mid-twenties (I was a Department Store Buyer and stopped to visit a factory outside of Pittsburgh on my way home to the West Coast). The area was gorgeous rolling hills and the people were extra nice and I had one of the best home cooked lunches ever in their employee cafeteria before they took me back to the airport to continue onward.

Later, as a designer, I would visit, Pittsburgh (Gimbels, Joseph Horne/?, May Company store/?) and do personal appearance promotions...always loved visiting Pittsburgh and Texas too at Joske´s, Dillards, and all the rest which I can´t even remember the names because they are all now Macy´s...what a drag).

Happy Sunday, thanks Mike for sharing the warmth.

Gravatar Oh gosh, I remember Gimbel's and Horne's in downtown Pittsburgh.

Did you ever come to the Joske's in San Antonio? It's now Macy's, but the original store is still there. Dillard's is still Dillard's.

Gravatar I take that back. Joske's is now Dillard's. I've still not recovered from when Marshall Field, the only department store I ever really shopped at, became Macy's ... and Macy's ruined it.

Gravatar Hi Mike, It was Kauffmans in Pittsburgh the May Company Store, very popular and lots of good business...Yes, I came to San Antonio Joske ´s several times...to the Main Store by The Alamo and River Walk and branches too...the San Antonio/Allied Group were especially professional and strong and friendly...I learned to ¨two step¨ in San Antonio (even though San Antonio was a bit smaller than Houston and Dallas Allied divisions where I also did lot´s of business)...it was Sanger Harris in Dallas and I can´t remember the other Federated store in Houston (did less business there)...I did them all and it was fun...I was formerly a Resident Buyer in the California Market before ALL of this and we represented all Gimbels Divisions plus Sakowitz (which was a wonderful operation before they opened big in Dallas).

My Texas ¨adventures¨ were wonderful, always.
