Yes, the Cardinal is very cautious. I also think he had decided to back pedal.
I wonder if Caritas will eventually go under. Maybe Catholic organizations should get out of hospital administration. It's an expensive battlefield.
Caritas probably will go under in due course. Eventually, the Church might have to get out of the health-care business altogether, even though I don't think she ought to. There's always self-financing. But that runs up against the fact that Catholics are stingy givers by comparison with Protestants.
Once again, it all comes down to sacrificial love. There isn't enough of it.

Thanks. This was a huge victory. However, sadly, there is smoke and mirrors going on here. The Cardinal did not disengage from the abortion contract. He brought in a partner to carry them out and he somehow has a relationship with that partner that is unknown. The Caritas contract that includes carrying out abortions is moving forward. Capice?
We have a situation here in which the Cardinal is still lying about how the contract is actually going to be carried out.
I don't believe at this point that the NCBC has approved this part of the deal. I believe the Cardinal has put smoke into the air about their 49% ownership. Capice?

I'm confused. How was it a huge victory if the church is still in some way associated with abortion?
And, how, exactly, ARE they still associated with abortion? I didn't understand the article Michael linked to.
