Gravatar I think getting a new kitty will be like honoring Cinders. No new cat will replace him, but he showed you how much love you have to give to an animal and I think it can only be a joyful thing if you pass that on to a new friend. xoxo

Gravatar i got Minerva about 2 weeks after Mia died, and i never thought i'd love a kitty more than Mia, but i was wrong. it's really hard when they go, but new kitties really help.

Gravatar If you're in the situation of "(T)here are so few people I can talk to right now, who wouldn't think I was nuts,", then you're associating with the wrong blinkin', blankin' people. And no offense, but you have a problem for blinkin', blankin' thinking there's something wrong with you instead of them. Jeez, that oblivious, slack jawed hydrocephalic who said, "Yeah, it's been two days" - did his mother have any children who lived?

Not that I want you to suffer, but feeling bad over a dead pet, EVEN VERY BAD, EVEN FOR A LONG TIME, is perfectly understandable. Anyone who can't comprehend such a reaction is deficient. How could you consider thinking otherwise?

Just what we'd blinkin', blankin' want. Another blinkin', blankin' med school graduate with high grades and no compassion for living things.

I feel very strongly about this issue.

Now you know why SarahK and Bikermommy think I'm insane.

Gravatar *HUGS* My kitty George died about 9 years ago... I'd had him all through college and after I moved out to Phoenix, but he developed a liver problem and went from pudgy cat to skin and bones very quickly. I lived alone, and I knew that the cat-sized hole in my life would loom very large, so I went out the next day with a friend and adopted a kitten. She was in every way (except long-haired) the opposite of Georgie - all black instead of pure white, amber eyes instead of blue, female instead of male, tiny instead of lumbering, and timid instead of vocal. It helped immeasurably. Not only just having a cat there, but she seemed to sense when I was very sad and snuggle closer in a way that George never did.

Anastasia could never replace George, but she is a very much loved member of our family. I'm glad to hear you are thinking about adopting another cat.

Gravatar I'm so sorry Kim, a stray kitten colored very much like Cinders, claimed us a while (few years) back. We had just decided to let him in the house and he was struck by a car and killed, I cried and I still get sad when I think of him.

Gravatar found your site while searching for the lyrics to Consider the Lilies, which i used in a service tonight. i enjoyed your post. we probably all have a favorite pet story... yours reminded me of a few pets we've lost. i do believe some must go to heaven.
all the best,
tim
