As Nick Robinson points out in this week's 'Speccie', it is virtually impossible for anyone to guess what he, or his chancellor, are going to do if they achieve power:

Perhaps the folly of guaranteeing Labour's spending plans for three years after an election is at last dawning on them. However, an economy in hard recession, or even a slump, might be enough to bolster their courage sufficiently for them to rat on their silly pledge and do the sensible thing. I wouldn't bet the deeds of the house on it, but Cameron is indecipherable.
