Gravatar that is pretty laughable, choosing GCSE scores as a measure of productivity.

I could understand measuring teaching hours, or number of children commmiting crime, or something, but the 'easier-every-year' GCSE exams?

I did mine 10 years ago, they were pathetic then, I hate to imagine how easy they are now.

I actually feel sorry for the ONS on this.

Reading their report, you can tell they don't have much confidence in GCSE scores either. But they've been bludgeoned by the politicos into somehow massaging the "output" series up (the head of the ONS was actually hauled before Brown and tortured into submission).

The ONS should report to Parliament, like the NAO.
