Sure. It's all bollocks. Sadly, I don't see Dave's blue rosette brigade as anything than just an alternative bunch of career politicos chasing the trappings of power. Few (if any) of them have ever really built & run a business or demonstrated intellectual, moral or leadership superiority. I don't even know what they stand for. A random collection of soundbites that could have been written by one of Blair's PR peeps doesn't represent a philosophy. Is it a modern manifesto?
The good news is the prospect of public sector strikes. Most of us wouldn't even notice they were off. If they're not working then they aren't getting paid - or bulking up their pension pots. Surely that means a reduction in our tax burden, doesn't it? Provided the guvmint (on behalf of the tax payer) doesn't surrender, of course. Aha! I think I see the problem!

Ray,
I agree with you about the Tories; they offer little other than the status quo, perhaps a few economic reforms that will overshadow glaring problems in the civil service but little else.
You might be more interested in the following party to which I am affiliated: www.lpuk.org
Wat,
There might be a way to oust NuLabour before the 2 years are out according to Guido - if their loans are called and they are unable to pay them then the officers of the Labour party will be made bankrupt - their only hope comes from the unions and they will be doing everything they can to appease them in the very near future; expect breakthrough talks across the board, mass inflation-busting borrowing to pay for huge payouts and some very dirty money.
We should watch this vein like hawks - its is not above NuLabour to rinse this money back through the unions as they've done in the past so we should watch what happens here very carefully.

It will be the next government that gets the blame for the lights going out.
So why should they care.

Libertarian party philosophy rings my bell. Unfortunately, I'm now a Marxist (Groucho, not Karl) and so couldn't join any club that would have me as a member.
As for economic reality hitting the labour party; it'll never happen. I think they've moved on & possibly globalised their thinking.
For example, Mandy & his chums will have a whip round in Europe & come up with some scheme or other that'll tide things over. Or some of the large US 'healthcare' firms will pass a bung in anticipation of the huge slugs of NHS/taxpayer money they're about to receive.
What's a game of tennis with Bliar worth? With side bets? And incentives?

............. Like an even crazier tax system. Just choked on my brandy, having heard on the wireless that “The government's flagship tax-credit scheme has lost another £1.5bn through fraud and error.”
Presumably this is why HMRC keeps sending me a bill for 60 pence unpaid tax.
Only place I could find the full story is The Guardian

Thom-
totally agree about the unions extracting bribes from a deperate Lab - there's actually a story today about firms having to promote union membership if they want government contracts - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/...-
contracts.html
Shocker

That tax credit loss, as you may know, is simply the latest instalment of a long running saga - see previous blogs gathered here http://

Wat,
Just seen it - am curious if this is not one of those things we cannot prevent - Guthrum on the LPUK blog mentions this is influencing the procurement process; brown envelopes under the table to make a company "union-friendly" anyone?
