The reason why I supported Thames Gateway is because if you let 2 million people into the country you need more homes. I am amazed you ignored this point.
I wouldn't be surprised if HMG came to the conclusion that the private sector is evil and just built 100% affordable housing.
Why can't they get Heseltine to run the show? He did rather a good job in Docklands.

Nobody ever asked those who live in the parts of Essex and Kent concerned if they wanted to be regenerated. I daresay the most run-down parts might have said yes, but that is not a reason for the wholesale scheme proposed.
Where plans have been produced, they have often caused huge protests from the residents of the area.
I fear the comment about government deciding the private sector is evil and going for 100% affordable public sector housing could prove only too true.
South Essex is quite crowded enough already. It has already absorbed the huge Chafford Hundred development. No more major housing schemes should be allowed there.
