Gravatar Gordon's little present to Dave.

Should be cooking nicely by 2010.

I reckon inflation will be over 10% by then.

Gravatar There are some, mainly moonbats, who believe that this is Gordon's way of pulling us into the EU Euro - that he is intentionally killing the pound in order to force the our EU Soviet integration and enforce it, only for him to aspire to a villa in France, paid for by expenses secured by the EU while Britain is slowly tossed into hell.

Either way, I just want to brain him.

Gravatar Gordon's little present to Dave.

Unfortunately, the way things are looking just now, Dave won't need any help at all from Gordo in making sure spendin', borrowin' and taxin' remain sky-high. He seems to have metamorphosed into a sort of Tony Blair, c.1996, golem.

As for Osborne, heaven help us.

Gravatar I didn't vote for the buggers. Honest!

Gravatar Just back from a grotty pub lunch with kids running around and screaming all over the place. But I did learn of another lovely example of the Labour Government Law of Unintended Consequenses.

I was bemoaning the lack of a separate bar where the kids and their mums could be locked away from the rest of us. I was told by a friend - who was old enough to remember - why they all disappeared.

Dear old Wilson had implemented the Price and Incomes Policy, whereby you had to apply to the government to put your prices up - yes, I know, just one more Labour term might have done it here and now. This policy applied to public bars, but not saloon bars.

The intention was that the "working man" would not have price increases forced upon him, but the gentility of the saloon bar would be shafted for all they were worth.

Of course, the socialist intelligentsia didn't think it through. Plus ca change.

So the publicans knocked through all the walls, made one big saloon bar, the "working man" lost his watering hole and ended up being shafted like everyone else.

There is a moral there somewhere...

Gravatar Is Gormless an economic terrorist ? Will he press the button...or is it rigged to Darlings vest.. suicide by proxy.Watch out for next weeks exciting instalment.

Gravatar The government doesnt need to borrow more money. It just needs to get rid of the 1000s of pointless non-jobs in the public sector. I am not suggesting we dont need civil servants, of course we do! But I hope that WHEN the Tories get power in 2010, the first thing they do is cut benefits to those that dont REALLY need them; and to cut public sector jobs that if the post was cut tomorrow, no one would tell any difference!

Gravatar john miller-

Nice detail about Wislon's Prices and Incomes policy fallout.

IIRC pubs used to have - in ascending order of smokiness - the Saloon Bar, the Public Bar, and the Snug. Plus off course, an off licence bit where kids could buy penny chews and bags of highly salted broken crisps (now both banned under EU health and safety human rights laws).

Progress,eh?
