On the subject of ruthlessness, Carrera is ultimately even moreso in Carnifex than he was in ADCP. (Oh, and it isn't quite as long a book, either.)

The War on Terror pigeonholes one gesture into a certain meaning. That's unscientific. The best thing to say is, "I don't care a spit for gangs of flowers and bulking bodies."
The War on Terror is fundamentally nothing more than the leisure of going to see what has become banal.

Shimmy, did you use a random sentence program to come up with that?

Looking forward to it. I just finished A Desert Called Peace this afternoon and I'll start reading Carnifex later tonight when I'm out on my back porch smoking my nightly cigar.

Shimmy's post had me scratching my head as well.

Mr. Kratman, Professor LaRoche:
Shimmy wasn't using a random sentence generator. It was merely the audacity of hope!

These days, "the audacity of hope" tends to get one cast beneath a motorcoach.

Nope, not a random generator. Nor was it the audacity of hope. Maybe something like "the death of outrage"?

"The Policeman's Beard is Half-Constructed" is one possible explanation.
