Hey, Professor LaRoche, I hope that *I* am welcome in Texas!
Even though my mother was born in Oklahoma...
Here is a great thought for you as a historian. What Ten Top Historical Concepts do you think every high school senior (and thus voter) ought to know? That is the ten concepts that every citizen OUGHT to know?
I thought about this when I realized that my freshmen don't have any knowledge of government above "Schoolhouse Rock" but they knew a whole bunch about Kent State and the Civil Rights movement.
True, I am a scientist, but I recognize that without any historical perspective, citizens are VERY easily manipulated regarding politics.
So what you say you?
Good luck getting classes and such in order. Me, I am in the same boat!

Of course you are! Anyway, I was just blowing off some steam yesterday so the whole "Yankees" bit should be taken with a grain of salt.

That's a good question and a good idea for a future blog post. I'll have to think about that for a while.

Ah, that would be North Texas, south/southwest of Fort Worth. I'm not that familiar with that area, but am somewhat familiar with the DFW metroplex.
I hope you make it back to Texas one of these days!

Apologies again to all for the lack of posting this past week. I've been very busy grading term papers, but I finished last night. Finals for the summer session are next week, thankfully.
A new blog post will be up around midnight.
