I also liked Highway 101, who had a Texas connection I think. Their guitarist was named Jack Daniels - L OL.
Highway 101 was a great band. For obvious reasons, I always think of them whenever I'm in SoCal driving up from LA to Santa Barbara. "Whiskey, If You Were A Woman" was my favorite of their songs.
