Hi Mike!
So good to see your post, and to see "Romeo" get his due.
Get thee to The Festering Swamp and see our latest from one of Obama's nutbag preacher buddies, who has the same opinion of Amerikkka that Al Qaeda does.

Years ago I read a book about the surrender and I can't remember the title, but it said that the maneuvering of Hirohito himself, in the days after Nagasaki, was instrumental in the surrender. He damn near didn't pull it off even then.

Cassandra: Professor LaRoche may be a great source on that one, but I will bet Dr. K. knows, too!

Thanks for reading, j.w. I hope I can keep posting regularly after I go back to work on July 9. Trying to post every day can be draining, at times.

Cassandra & Eric:
You all are recalling the Kyujo Incident. The Wikipedia article I linked to is not easily understandable due to the author's apparent lack of familiarity with the English language.
I'm not sure if any book has ever been published (in English) about this little-known event.
