Seahawk Addicts

The NBA is officially dead to me. I will also never buy another cup of Starbucks for the rest of my life.

Gravatar The fact that the city has announced this "settlement" makes me ill. For them to even consider doing business again with the NBA is flabbergasting to me as well. Get screwed once- shame on you. Get screwed twice- shame on me. Why are we even bothering trying to stay in the good graces of the NBA. Reality is- they need Seattle as much, if not more, than Seattle needs the NBA.

The NBA is dead to me. Has been for a bit now...but at least I thought about it prior to this date throughout the season. I wish Durant, Green, any other existing Sonics, like Nick Collison, the best of luck in the remainder of their careers as pro basketball players. I wish Sam Presti luck, and I hope as individuals they succeed. However, Stern- I hope the NBA continues to fail under your slimy leadership.

I will not support the NBA product..ever again, and I will encourage others to not shop at STarbucks. Schultz completely mishandled a civic asset. He got duped.

To Clay Bennett- I tip my hat. You found the lowest hanging fruit in the NBA to pick. You founded the city with the weakest leadership, the most other issues, and a highly conflicted interest. In the game of business- you probably won. I hate you for doing it- but honestly, we didn't have to sell to you. But...Mr. Schultz and his gang of others did.

Now- when will my rental cars at SeaTac get cheaper? Because that's the only benefit I have coming for this.

Gravatar I was really hoping that Balmer would step in and save the team, like Paul Allen did a decade ago with the Hawks. I used to be a big NBA fan, but over the past couple of years have really lost interest, although I am trilled that the Celtics won a title this year (no sarcasm, I mean it). I think that Stern is a joke. I have a great idea, lets move the Bulls to Santa Fe, the Lakers to Bismark, and have a league for all the small markets. That way, the NBA fan base will get even smaller. I know that many others feel the same way. I guess the Trailblazers fan base just grew exponentially.

Gravatar Unfortunately things like this not only make me question my love of one team but all teams. As we all know deep inside it's a pretty irrational love affair we have.

But honestly on a day like today I think we all have to step up and thank the lord for Paul Allen. When you think of all the reasons for the hawks being a great team, you have to put him at the top of the list.

And conversely Howard Putz is the reason for the Sonic's downfall. I don't think he's pure evil. But he had no business buying a franchise and because of his lapse in judgement an entire city suffers.

-Heartbroken Sonics Fan In The Land Of The Lakers

Gravatar I haven't watched any basketball all year, and I don't think that I'll be watching for a long, LONG time.

Gravatar Oh, and f#$k David Stern.

Gravatar I was deeply saddened to hear that the Sonics will be leaving seattle. So we get to keep the name and colors....so what? That's just a loser's pity award and it doesn't change the fact that our franchise has left.

I am completely baffled about how all of this went down and the actions of Bennett, Stern and how we "put up a fight", and like you said, took a knee and gave up in the end.

This whole situation is just a pile of crap....

the NBA is now dead to me

Gravatar The NBA has been dead to me for a lonnnng time. David Stern is without a doubt the most corrupt and conniving man in professional sports.

I would like to believe and hope that this may set a precedent in stadium policy nationally, that private investors, not governments, should be paying for them. Will this happen? Almost certainly not, but if any good could potentially be gotten from this theft, maybe thats it.

As much as I dislike some of Goodell and Tagliabue's stuff, as a football fan above all else, I feel incredibly lucky to not be stuck with David Stern.

Gravatar I live three blocks from the Rose Garden in the Pearl District here in Portland. I have been both a Blazers fan and a Sonics fan for as long as I can remember. I was also a Season Ticket holder for the Blazers, that is until I saw David Stern comment about the Sonics situation on television. I will hold the memories of RIP City fondly in my memory, but I will no longer attend or watch or do anything else to support the NBA. The NBA is a product. Much like when Coke changed the formula, consumers balked. I will excercise my right to not buy the NBA product anymore nor will I even watch the NBA on television. I know that this is not the Blazers or Paul Allens fault, but as I said, the NBA product is no longer a product that I wish to invest in. I did the same after the Super Bowl with the NFL. After that travesty, I no longer watched or discussed any other NFL team except for the Seahawks and whichever team they were playing that week. I stopped investing in any NFL related gear and will continue this personal boycott until such time as the NBA and NFL understand that fan also equals consumer.

Gravatar As long as public governments step up and volunteer to pay for new arenas..it will continue. Asking governments to stop paying for arenas is like asking MLB owners to not overpay for free agents- it'll never happen! Because there is always a few that feel it is their only chance!

Qwest Field is a great venue for football and other outdoor stadium events. We are lucky to have it and lucky to have Mr. Allen as the owner of our football team.

Gravatar David Stern needs to be removed from the nba immediately. Do people not remember that just a while back he stated that if the sonics were to leave seattle would NOT be getting another franchise EVER. Stern is full of lies and deceit and has led the nba down a road of corruption.

Gravatar David Stern has made the NBA the distant third professional sport in the nation.

-The league has an identity crisis
-Franchises are marketed about the individual and not the team, i.e. it's Kobe's team
-I really think that me first basketball has weakened us on an international scale, ahem, Olympics
-Stern has atrocious PR skills
-And I am positive that he colluded with Bennett to steal our Sonics

He is the Anti-Christ of sports

Gravatar Does anyone know how to unseat a chairman? you got my support.

Gravatar When I say Chairman, I mean Commissioner.

Gravatar The NBA has also been dead to me for a lonnnng time. All I can say now is lets look at bringing in the NHL....now that's a sport I can get behind during the winter months!

Gravatar I will never watch another NBA game. Ever. As for our elected officals who completely botched this situation and allowed this to happen, it might be a good time to start updating your resumes...

How long until we get an NHL team?

Gravatar I understand the NBA's position on the matter and the Sonics' owner as well. At least Seattle gets to keep the Sonics name. If Seattle decides to build a new arena then maybe they can get a team back. I just think that the NBA should have stepped up a while ago and helped the team out in Seattle. Seattle gets the wrap for everything. Look at the first comment on this blog from Ian stating that he will never buy Starbucks anymore.

Gravatar My feelings about this are pretty simple. This list of people:

- Clay Bennett
- David Stern
- Howard Schultz
- Greg Nickels
- Frank Chopp
- Christine Gregoire
- Nick Licota
- the NBA

... and the rest of the ineffectual, spineless, clueless elected "officials" who had a hand in allowing this to happen, can all go and self-fornicate.

Is that clear enough?

Gravatar Just think, with an NHL team we will have no "Getto ball", no spoiled, law breaking juveniles running around in their underwear. Just a super-fast collision sport with men in pads...Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!

Gravatar The NBA is now an official enigma to me. I will not say I will never watch, but I will not make any concerted effort to create a relationship. I live in Charlotte, and we were considered the best fans in the NBA with the Hornets. Now, the apathy is so great, many wish we had not been rewarded another team. In fact, many in the city would prefer baseball. I would expect Memphis, New Orleans, Phoenix, Sacramento (yes, even with new digs), San Antonio (when Duncan retires), Cleveland (when labron leaves), and Indiana to all have new ownership (not necessarily move) in the next 5 years.

Basketball, as a professional sport, has much to work on. I'm not saying it is a dying sport, but its business model is broken, as are all sports dependent on government subsidy. It's one thing to subsidize Boeing, which employs a huge percentage of the areas residents, and a whole other deal to subsidize a sport where there are only 12 players.

Be thankful for all the Sonics gave, and take a moment to consider the most beautiful game in the world: soccer... viva la Sounders!

Gravatar I love the sport of basketball. Played for a long time, followed it for years. I won't stop appreciating the sport, but the NBA? I'll stick with the NCAA & March Madness if I need a basketball fix.

Gravatar I will miss Kevin Calabro as a sports announcer, however. He is truly a class act and one of the best in the business. Does he do soccer or hockey?

One other comment on the NHL...if we got a team here we probably would not have to spend any on Key Arena. Can you tell I really, really want NHL hockey here???

Gravatar a sad state of affairs indeed. That jerk Stern should fall off a bridge somewhere.

I really loved going to at least a game a year for my birthday the last couple of years. They won most of em at least on those nights.

I am upset and angry that even though we get to keep the name of the sonics, we don't get to figure something out for this type of deal. Bennett clearly ignored the indian tribe, the city of Kent, and Ballmer and Co. There was never going to be a chance once he bought them with his "Fined" group of PBC affiliates.
I'm looking at this report from these guys and it makes me want to hurl.

"Requests For Tickets will be handled immediately, through July 18th. Relocation will begin immediately."

UGH. The door couldn't hit their asses fast enough on the way out.

JR

Gravatar Hey Michael, I think we now have several new candidates for the AssClown award!

Gravatar So the door is closed. After some time to let the anger pass, I would hope we all can get excited about the "Hawks, King Felix, the Sounders, and the potential promotion of the Thunderbirds (awesome nickname!).

Time to let go, open a new door, and embrace the new.

Gravatar Our elected officials are almost worse than Bennett and Stern. $75 million is an important number--not only is it the size of the settlement, its the amount Gregoire and the state legislature couldn't come up with to save the team earlier this year. In the end Bennett was willing to put up the cash and our officials weren't. Remember that when you vote this November.

Gravatar Just think, it could have been us. If King County didn't think it needed to enforce its lease, and if the NFL had leadership like the NBA, Ken Behring would have done the same thing to the Seahawks.

That's the really stupid thing about the Sonics leaving, it wasn't like we'd never seen this movie before.

Gravatar Clay Bennett LIED - this was proven to be so in a Times report about 3 months ago or so.

They dug up emails that were nothing short of completely incriminating. There was enough evidence buried in there to put him away from perjury or even racketeering, but oh, that's right, Bennett is a good friend of David Stern, and the friendship makes sense because they're both a couple of corrupt rich guys with a lot of power.

And what does Bennett get for lying to the public and misleading everyone for over a year straight? He gets his wish, and the Sonics ditch Seattle for Oklahoma City.

I don't understand how people with so much power are somehow above the law, but Bennett doesn't deserve to share my oxygen as far as I'm concerned.

The NBA, to me, now stands for No Balls Association.

Gravatar You're right, it's a sad, sad day for Seattle. Maybe, just maybe, Paul Allen will rise up as a local hero once again and book some Blazers games in Seattle. I really appreciate how he has handled the Seahawks organization. I haven't followed the Blazer's but, if the Hawks are any indication, Portland is a class act in the making. I won't mind becoming a Blazers fan once the smarting stops.

Gravatar My family moved to Washington state in '79. It was odd watching NBA finals games at school. After moving to Sacramento years ago, I had access to someone else's season tickets and developed a liking for the Kings. After a certain Kings-Lakers series, I lost all interest in NBA. Add in constant rule changes to make certain players more competitive and the off court behavior, I knew something was wrong. I watched the final game this year and that was the first NBA game I've watched in over 2 years.

I have connections to the Sonics, but my disinterest in anything NBA has to offer makes me apathetic to this news.

I am still a HUGE NCAA basketball fan.

Gravatar *sigh*

this just sucks.

not only are the NBA and Stern corrupt and floundering (wasn't basketball becoming america's pastime during the jordan years? now it's what...less popular than hockey?), but this just shines a light on the ineptitude of seattle politicians and government. anyone following the trial knew they blew it on day one when the city's lawyer came out sounding like lionel hutz on a bad day.

hope for a new team is truly a long shot. and maybe not worth supporting until stern is six feet under.

Gravatar oh yeah, and:

Adults Only Link

Gravatar Disappointing...yes, expecting something else to happen...no. The ownership and leadership of the sonics has been so bad the past ten plus years that even though true fans followed the club they reserved their sports enthusiasm until the Mariner and Seahawk seasons were in swing. The city leaders and state legislature don't care and will make excuses for the next five years until they can blame the NBA for the lack of opportunity. KeyArena bills have been paid off and the venue will be destined for concerts, dog shows and contract exhibitions. The mayor and city council will pat themselves on the back for making KeyArena a venue success without a significant sport franchise. Of course, this type of use does not bring in out of state tourist money, fill the restaurants or encourage hotels to locate near a first class state of the art venue. Seattle Center will not have the revenue dollars to grow with the South Lake Union development and thousands of highrise condos being build nearby. The city council will be complaining they can't upgrade Seattle Center without justifiable revenue.
Do I personally care if the basketball club leaves for OK? Not really, but I do care that Seattle is the 13th largest market in the US and our council and legislature are acting like it is the 25th largest. Small town thinking I am afraid.

Gravatar I have not been a basketball fan for many years but this is a truly sad day for Seattle. I have not followed the trial much or what has been happaning leading up to the trial since I live in Austin TX but ir sounds like the city of Seattle screwed up big time.

Gravatar Since this is a Seahawk fan site, maybe we should all send out a collective thank you to Paul Allen. The Hawks were so close to moving to LA in '95 that I was questioning whether or not I would even follow the NFL after they left. Football in Seattle was on life support.

Gravatar First thing the City of Seattle should do is give the NHL a call. Screw the NBA.

Gravatar This embarassing tragic incident was not a one-time event. Rather, it was the end result of five years of failed business and political leadership in Washington. The worst part is that this whole episode had only one leader: Clay Bennett. He saw a group of weak politicians and pliable businessmen, and he did what any shrewd operator would do. He exploited it.

We can't vote out Howard Schultz (unless a huge Sonics fan is a majority shareholder in Starbucks, which would be great) but we can damn sure vote out Governor Gregoire and Mayor Nickels. Shame on any Sonics fan who votes for either one.

Gravatar Thank you again to Paul Allen for stepping in and saving our NFL franchise. Under his ownership, the team thrives.

I'm a Seattle native. To say that this is an unbelievable turn of events is an understatement. I'm also wondering why Seattle's electeds caved. If the e-mails show that Bennett didn't have clean hands, why not let the judge make her ruling?

Just like everyone else, I've watched my last NBA game. I'll be writing a letter to Howard Schulz, but I'm sure he'll never even read it, much less care what I think. After all, I'm just one more native who saw this coming from a thousand miles away.

-S

Gravatar I'm a big nerdy accountant for the government and generally dont care about basketball-- but i gotta say this is perhaps the dumbest move anyone could have made. Do people not read government documents regarding local governments? (Yeah, I know -- no one does). Regardless, there's a book produced by each (big) local government called a CAFR. In it is all the financial (and non financial) information abuot a local governemnt. Here's fun comparable stats between SEA and OKC:

2004 Population OKC - 525k
2004 Population Sea - 573k
2004 Per Capita Income OKC - 30k
2004 Per Capita Income Sea - 50k
2006 Tax revenues OKC - 461M
2006 Tax revenues Sea - 900M
2006 Land Values OKC - 3.4B
2006 Land Values Sea - 96B

Most states have a statutory limit on how much debt you can issue (which is how you pay for sports arenas), in relation to the land assessed value. For seattle its between 1.5 - 2.5% (depending on who voted for it (council or taxpayers)
Seattle has a capacity of about 9.1 billion it could issue, less the 1 billion or so it already did issue, so a total capacity of 8.1 billion.

If OKC had the same statutory debt limits, the maximum debt okc could issue based on its land values is 52 million, yet its already got 479M in debt, meaning they're already way beyond the limit and have no capacity to issue debt.

Now lets look LOGICALLY at these little stats here. How do you plan to finance a new arena in OKC?!?!?!??!?!

Gravatar Give Paul Allen 3 years to get the trailblazers up here. By then Greg Oden will be on top of his game

Gravatar Even though I live in Minnesota, I could really care less about the NBA.

If we lost the Timberwolves I would actually be happy because I hate basketball so badly this day and age and then there would be more space for real sports in the local media (namely I only care about football/baseball).

Gravatar I don't think Paul Allen would do that to Portland.

Gravatar Hey Mike as I did in email, I nominate Clay Bennett and Professional Basketball Club LLC as Assclown(s) of the year, if not the decade!

Gravatar I don't think the "Assclown" award is appropriate for Bennett. Usually the Assclown award is given to someone who is a screwup. Bennett isn't a screwup, he's just plain evil.

He doesn't screw up his evil either. He's quite good at it.

King Starbucks, now he's a screwup. Give him the Assclown award, for being so stupid as to think that Bennett and his boys really had any intention of keeping the team here.

Gravatar Hey- i dont blame schultz for dumping the sonics. he's an investor above all else. The team shouldn't've been sold to him in the first place, knowing what kind of investor he is. It takes a certain kind of investor thats willing to hold a civic type of asset such as the sonics.

I mean, say you owned 100,000 shares of GM that were worth 50 a share years ago. Now they're less than 10 bucks a share now. Would/should you be criticized for selling the shares before they tanked? No, and you shouldnt be.

If there's anyone to blame its elected officials that we put into power that govern what we want to use tax revenues for. Sadly those elected officials all too often don't listen to their constituents.

I say all pro sports franchises should be owned by governments-- then they're stuck in a particular area and don't move. Just don't support the ownership with tax dollars.

Gravatar Sure hope you guys in Seattle vote your elected officials OUT OF OFFICE. They just screwed you and the city. Sell outs...

Gravatar This is the type of 'Change' the Democrats want. More to come...

Gravatar There are so many villains in this thing it makes my head spin. I will now officially restart my Starbucks boycott, will vote against every local incumbent when they're up for re-election (should they even bother?), and will turn my eyes from the NBA for the foreseeable future (other than rooting against OKC and occasionally rooting for the Blazers).

But one of the most troubling things to me in this whole charade comes in talking to friends and acquaintances about the Sonics' plight over the last couple of years. The most popular reaction, even from pretty big sports fans, has been "they suck anyways... the NBA is boring... they haven't been good in years… it’s all about the Seahawks anyways…"

Are we that short-sided in this city? Have we become that lousy of fans? I'll admit, I've been guilty of being somewhat of a fair weather fan in the past, and I haven't been the most loyal of Sonics supporters over the last couple of years, as I don’t go to as many games as I have in the past, so I guess I'm as guilty as anyone, but I still remember the good days and know that sports are cyclical and the Sonics' day would have come again once good management was put in place and our young core matured. The apathy of even the above average sports fan in this city is pretty disheartening. It makes me worry about my favorite local team, the Seahawks, when their cycle of poor teams comes back (it will happen again – just hopefully for not as long). Coincidentally, back when the Hawks almost left town years ago, the most popular comments I heard back then were “they suck anyways… the NFL is boring… they’ve never been good… it’s all about the SONICS anyways…” All too familiar of words, just different circumstances this time.

It's nice, in a bittersweet way (mostly bitter), to listen to KJR today and hear people really disturbed by the Sonics leaving, it helps me regain my faith in Seattle’s fan base. It’s also nice to have a ton of scapegoats in this debacle. You can point your fingers in every direction and assuredly find someone to blame. Attendance/passion has gone down the last few years for pretty apparent reasons. However, I think it’s time to look at ourselves and our commitment to our sports teams in this city. Are we truly diehard fans, or is it more a relationship of convenience?

Gravatar Thank you Paul Allen for not making this story the talk of the town in the 90's when "Bubba" Behring had the trucks packed to leave for California with the Seahawks in tow. Also, thanks for being one of only two NBA owners who voted against this travesty of justice. You have my lifelong gratitude and respect for those actions.

As to the Sonics. They are truly dead to me. That team that went to Oklahoma is the true Sonics and I will never support another NBA team they bring to Seattle and to whom they would give the Sonics name. I would rather they find a new name for any replacement NBA basketball team relocated to Seattle (however, I won't support them either). I'm done with the NBA like many of you guys are. Maybe after the hurt goes away if I'm still alive that long and long after they get rid of David Stern but not any time soon.

Everyone else has already expressed every sentiment I could so I just leave with a huge anger directed at the NBA, David Stern, and particularly the politicians and residents of Washington State who are short sighted slimy little retarded slugs who can't understand the value of having the Sonics in their commmunity and deserve every inch of stature they lose as a World Class city because of what they've done here today.

My next curse is this. May any politician who took the smallest amout of pleasure at defeating any of the NBA arena proposals ever be elected to any political office again in their lifetimes. Before you start laughing, ask Hutch how many times he's been to the playoff's after I put a similar curse on him when he signed with Minnesota.

Gravatar Stallz-- i'll agree with you to a point. Yes, many Seattle sports fans are fair weather fans. I can honestly say I don't care about the NBA, and never have--even when the sonics were good in the mid 90s. I still liked the hawks because I like football as a sport moreso than basketball. Even when the mariners were awesome in 2001, I still liked football and was indifferent about baseball.
Its a matter of personal preference as to which sport you care more about. No one cares about the WNBA-- and they won it all in 2004 in Seattle and I didn't hear a single person say "Alright!! the Storm did it!!".
Personally, I think the NBA is a dying organization. It used to be such a big deal with "The NBA on NBC" in the M. J. era.. now how many folks rush home to watch a basketball game?
I think the NFL has the best deal around-- 16 games. You miss one, you miss ALOT.
Baseball? they say you're a good team if you're at .500. If you're 8-8 in the NFL you're... what the 49ers can only dream of

Gravatar I'd bemoan the downturn of the NBA, but for me, the NBA hasn't been an organization I could support for a very long time.

David Stern and this latest Sonics debacle just cements that opinion.

I'll sadly turn my attention to the Trailblazers and say a hearty "God Bless" to Paul Allen.

Gravatar Government has no business owning sports franchises. Anytime you get the insane idea in your head of the government running anything, think DMV. That's the caliber of folks you'd have managing your sports teams.

The real problem is that the professional sports franchises are monopolies. The owners conspire to only let their chosen few play. In any other area this would be illegal, and it's only in this exemption that government gets involved.

I don't mind taxes being used to fund the stadiums, but only if they are taxes like those used for Qwest and Safeco. Those taxes only taxes people who wanted to pay them and who go to the games.

In the end though, the stadiums should be run like Pepsi Center in Denver, which is a privately-owned and financed facility.

When you have a privately funded facility, then the free market can work. The facility will try to lure NBA and NHL teams, and will be incentivized to keep those teams as profitable and happy as possible.

When you have sports teams playing in a government-owned facility, now you've put a government entity in series with the success of the sports franchise, and nothing good can come from it.

The people in OKC may be happy now, but the Ford Center won't keep Bennett happy for very long. He wanted a publicly funded $500 million dollar building here, and he'll want that there as well. And they'll have to give it to him too, or he'll leave town on them as well.

Gravatar eh Lordtd I kind of disagree.. But only kind of.

The current state of sports franchises where you have overpaid thugs-- yeah, the government should probably not be too involved in that.

but think of it this way- University of Washington is a state owned school, as is WSU. They both have a football program. Those football programs, until relatively recently, produced quality players. Players that people wanted to watch play a game of football. There's a reason why a lot of people like watching any college ball game over watching any professional ball game.

Not everything is as inefficiently run as the DMV. As a government employee, I generally think local governments operate more efficiently that state governments. (State runs the DMV). Take a look at a muni golf course. That runs pretty well, right? Local government. The Port of Seattle? Last i checked we dont have empty shelves in any of our retail spots, so that seems to be working ok.

It could work though, ala Green Bay Packers.

Gravatar For the comment about moving the Blazers...

Not possible they will move, they have sold out every game (2nd-4th guarter) oflast season and the stock is on the rise still with new additions.

Portland has no Seahawks, so I would say it is fair we each have at least one great team, for revenue sake.

I was looking forward to the games at the Rose Garden between those two teams, but I will have to wear a Sonics jersey to those games instead of a Blazers one, it's too bad and very unfortunate for such a crap situation.

Sorry Seattle, at least the Hawks are there!!!

Gravatar please feel free to drive here to portland for basketball like we drive to seattle to watch the seahawks.

Gravatar Billt,

>Before you start laughing, ask Hutch how many times he's been to the playoff's after I put a similar curse on him when he signed with Minnesota.<

From your lips to God's ears. We're hearing a lot about the Vikings this year, aren't we? Wait till they find out they're not going anywhere because of Hutch...

In the meantime, thanks a lot, City of Seattle and Howard Schultz. I'm just disgusted.

-S

Gravatar I am pissed right now. I hate starbucks as they bought a perennial playoff in the Sonics, destroyed them and sold them off to an investment group out of oklahoma city because they said they would try and keep the Sonics in Seattle. What a dumba$$, even my 6 year old son would not have fallen for that. Then to hear that these oklahoma rednecks are friends with david stern?? He sold Seattle out so his good buddu can have a team in oklahoma. Then the city council pretends to stand up and fight to keep the Sonics here, only to wilt at the end for money?? Seems to me the city council didn't give a crap about the Sonics, they wanted money. Course I wasn't sure about the whole thing, I mean if they don't sell which I am sure they would not, the Sonics were gone in 2 years anyway. This whole thing just irks the hell outta me!! I hated it also because Kevin Durant and Jeff Green gave us hope that the Sonics future could be bright. Well at least I have a new most hated team now, right behind the lakers. On a side note, I did love seeing Ray Allen get his ring!!

Gravatar I know I'm late to the dogpile here. I have many fond memories of Sonics games back in the 90's. Even when the Sonics stunk I enjoyed watching them play against Jordan or Bird. Pre-game pizza at Pagliacci's or a beer at the Irish pub before heading to the arena. I'm sad I'll never get a chance to head to a game with my buddies or get to see the NBA's biggest stars play in my hometown.

We've all known for a long time that this was likely to happen. Now, it's just a matter of acceptance. But, it sucks. Anyone out there with DVDs of the Sonics Finals appearance against the Bulls?

Gravatar Strat,

Wait'll all the Politicians who were not re-elected and lost their jobs over their actions in regard to funding the Sonics find out the guy lives somewhere in Anchorage, Alaska that cursed their stupid asses and got them voted out of office.

Good luck in trying to find me to get it lifed too.
