Seahawk Addicts

His name is spelled Darryl

Gravatar I honestly think Tapp could be an insanely good performer this year if he's given the opportunity. He lit it up in a couple games last year and I see no reason why the team would give up on him so early.

Gravatar I don't see the Jackson pick as the team giving up on Tapp. I think they took a look at what the Giants did with multiple pass rushers on the line and want to be able to bring the same type of pass rush without having to blitz.

Also, PK isn't getting any younger and having young talent at the DE position is never a bad thing.
Tapp's going to get plenty of opportunities to get to the QB this year, weather starting, in a rotation or as a 3rd down specialist.

Gravatar I think it means that Tapp gets to go after the QB more instead of just holding up his end.

Gravatar I agree with the previous comments. I think the LoJack pick was more about depth and allowing Tapp to focus on his strengths. I would love to see Tapp have a breakout year.

Gravatar Every coach's dream: a team full of Darryl Tapps.

Gravatar I think there were multiple factors at play in the Lo-jack pick, the primary of which is value in getting a four year starter from USC who is a great player and a quality person with the 28th pick. The Hawks also knew they needed another DE because Babin wasn't much for depth last year and Atkins injury still leaves him in the 'potential' catagory. So, with a great, but 30-something year old DE on one side, and a good young DE who never looked the same after his cast came off last year on the other side, the team couldn't afford to pass on the opportunity to strengthen a position with depth needs. The potential for Jackson to line up inside on third down and still stop the run is also attractive. I would love to see third and long with Kerney, Atkins (he's a big boy too), Jackson and Tapp across the line. Third and medium keep Rocky in there.

With Trufant finding his stride on his natural side of the field and these guys putting pressure on QBs Jennings and Babs could have tremendous years as benificiaries. I say Babs because unless Wilson makes a HUGE jump this year, there is no way he beats out Babs for the nickle spot.

Gravatar I think the LoJack pick was not about Darryl being no good, but about the team needing 3 DEs, not just 2. It can be taken as a statement that Atkins is not seen as the answer as a 3rd DE.

I think Darryl can be a very good 3rd-down DE, but is not big enough to help stuff the run and disappears against top-talent LOTs. LoJack is longer and stronger than Darryl and may be a better 1st and 2nd down DE.

We need 3 DEs in rotation. I'm sure Darryl, LoJack, and Kearny will all team together well and come to appreciate each other's contributions.

I think Atkins is the odd man out.

Gravatar I saw that Atkins has impressed during camp this off season. I think that Babin is most likely the odd man out. LoJack will be our Justin Tuck and will most likely be Kerney's heir.

Gravatar I think Tapp will be able to take advantage of the DE rotation and really flourish when he is in there. It really does look like LoJack will be the primary down DE and Tapp be the pass-rushing specialist which is what he definately excels at.

Now he will have a constant full tank of gas and can focus on one thing...so I think he'll be allright and more Tapp jerseys will be popping up in QwestField.

Gravatar I already have one! DTapp for president!

Gravatar It's been said, but I love Tapp's work ethic and overall approach to the game. He's one of those players that will get better every year until his body starts to fail him.

I like the LoJack pick, if Atkins improves we should be set at DE for some time to come.

Gravatar I see LoJack as the replacement for Kerney in a couple years, not for Tapp.
