Yah, How do kickers make an impression through OTA's? Absurd if you ask me......I love the offseason news, but none of it matters until we see guys in pads in game type situations.
As far as the return game, I feel we have some guys that can produce there and hopefully Nate will be able to convince coach that he can return kicks and still be a wide out...I mean, didnt he do that last year? We know how that worked out.
Punters.....Snappers.....that is a valid point, but I feel it will be just fine.
Is it like no other teams have had rookie snappers?
We will see I guess, but I just cant get all worked up this time of year about anything other than major injuries to key players and lets hope we stay clear there.

Oh. My. GOD! The sky's falling! aaaaargh! The sports reporters with their crystal balls are telling everyone that we have no special teams!
This is the same bunch that thinks Arizona's winning the division, right? That Tony Romo's a better quarterback than Matt Hasselbeck? How about the fact that Holmgren's a "lame duck" because it's his last year?
Do they report ANYTHING accurately outside of a hundred-mile radius of Qwest? We'll be fine. We lost a couple of guys. We got more guys who can take up the slack. Considering Mr. "Slave to the Businessman"'s BS attitude, we're better off without him. The punting situation can be addressed as well.
Long snapper: There were other teams after that guy, weren't there? Of course, the SECOND we draft him, he's automatically crap, right?
Sheesh. It's not even nine a.m., and I'm already worked up!

I think Forsett and Josh Wilson will be our returners. Forsett has the moves and I think Wilson is the fastest player on the team so its a nice combo. Wilson also had some nice returns last season so I'm not to worried. True Niko and Bentley were our best special teamers, but both can be replaced with signings of players who did not make the cut on other teams. I'm really only worried about Plackemier, hes one of the better punters in the league, hopefully it does not affect his career.

I am not worried at all about our special teams. I think we have a great coach who knows what he is doing. It will all work it's self out once they get the pads on and start playing the game of Football!

This is another great example of writers blowing things out of proportion for us yet again. I don't think our situation is going to be anywhere near this bad on ST. We have a sea of unproven talent, and just because it's unproven doesn't mean it's unworthy.

Do these writers even have a clue? Reports from camp indicated just the opposite of these doom-and-gloomers. Mare and Coutu will kick it out and one will emerge as our kicker. Our kicking game will be fine, and kick-offs might even improve. Our new LS will be a major improvement over the carousel of woeful longsnappers we had last season (with the exception of Robinson).
The only thing this article got right is that losing Niko and Bentley will be a challenge, but there are players that will step into the void they left. I really liked Niko and Bentley and hated to lose them. I'm happy they're going to get their opportunities. They were really too talented to languish on special teams.
Bottom line is that the sensationalistic bent to the article is a tip-off that this is all smoke, no fire. Expect more of the same until camp starts. It's the dead time in off-season so anything will pass as news.

I really just dont think that JB was that great of a kicker last year. He had some game winners over the years which is nice but lets not forget those kickoffs that barely cleared the 20 yard line. The Hawks are not a bubble team that is counting on the kicker to put them over the top. Kicking is important but when you look across the league there is just not that big a gap between the best kickers and rest. If the game comes down to the last kick then something went wrong during the game for the Hawks, they can play with anybody on both sides of the ball.
I think Wilson scored on a return last year didnt he? and I hope they put Schmidt on kick off duty and then we can keep a count of how many face masks get broken - that would be great like when they used to count strike outs for Randy Johnson at the kingdome.

I think that sometimes we fall so in love with our team that we tend to think mediocre players are good. We overvalue our guys because we like our team so much and want them to be successful.
I don't paint the doom-and-gloom scenario that PFT does with our special teams, however, at this point I see nothing special about them. A lot can change and I think our ST can and will become an above average unit.
However, I think they also have the "potential" to be well below average. Like all of you, I want them to do well... games aren't played on paper (thank God) b/c if they were, we're not sitting so pretty here.

Our Special Teams should be better than last season. Brown really wasnt himself last season, mostly due to the fools we had snapping.
A new snapper (rookie though he be) is the best news our Special Teams has seen in years--and only utterly ignorant tards would think otherwise.
How can adding a great snapper be a step backward? I think our snapping was the worst in league history last season. And Ruskell fixed the problem. We're good to go.
Losing Kouto and Bentley wasnt good, but Laury is a Special Teams stud, Herring is good too, and this Mallard dude has really been making an on-field argument to make the team.
So, we got younger and cheaper on Special Teams, fixed our biggest weakness, and got not 1, but 2 kickers to compete to replace Brown, and our Special Teams are in trouble?!
Whatever. What lazy journalism...

How does anyone determine any of this Schmitt without putting on some pads and going out there and playing football?
This is one of the more ludicrous writeups on the Seahawks yet this Summer. It looks as if it's open season once again on giving lip service to the notion that the Seahawks are falling short in every area. How do we keep winning all those division titles?

I love these write-ups. The players should read them too so they can see how the "world" is viewing them at this point in time.
This should give them a bit of attitude to knock some heads off.
