If just one of the young guys could turn the corner and become a cornerstone that would be great! With Hass maybe good for another 3 or 4 years, who knows with Walt, we need to get some skill guys in place so we dont have needs at multiple areas. RB may be a question mark depending on how JJ does but Carlson could be a good answer to the revolving door at TE. We need one of these young guys to step up so when Hass does hang it up we are not putting an rookie qb back their with a patchwork o-line (we will hear for years how they never got over big Walt retiring after every sack or behing the line tackle) a marginal RB squad and WR group who if they cant produce in Holmy system better start looking for new jobs when the offense will inevitably change over the next 3 or 4 years.

Taylor seemed lots faster than your average posession reciever in the limited action I saw him in last season. I thought he was a better fit at Split End than Flanker, but what do I know?
There is nothing wrong with a speedy flanker, thats for sure. If Taylor plays up to potential, we should have a great corps of recievers-Engram, Taylor, and the tough/tall Payne at Flanker, and Burleson, Obi-wan, and Kent at Split End.
I think these guys are gonna kick some ass this year.

Sorry this is off topic, not sure where to post it, but i thought you might find this interesting.
I ran into a few of the Seahawks at the Lakers game last night. I first spotted Matt, who was wearing a Bird jersey and a Celtics baseball cap. I went up and introduced myself and you couldn't have found a nicer, down to earth guy. We chit chatted for a few mins and then as he went to meet up with Nate B - he actually remembered my name - saying "Good to meet you John" - it shows me he has something up stairs and is a smart individual. I then ran into Lofa (wearing a Paul P jersey) and Mike Wahle (who is HUGE). I chatted with Lofa for a while and again - he looked me in the eye, was not trying to brush me off, etc. It sure makes it easier to root for these guys when they are such class acts off the field.

Great Story John. I read that Matt was coming to the game, but I was in SD and listened to it on my way home. That is cool that you saw them, too bad they didn't get to see their Celts win

Nice to hear more good news about Taylor.
I'm bullish on the young WRs being able to contribute soon. Holmgren's system has had a good track record of taking middle- to late-round WR picks, having most of them sit and observe the first 1 or 2 years, and then getting strong production out of them.
3rd round: John Taylor, Robert Brooks, Antonio Freeman, Darrell Jackson
5th round: DJ Hackett, Corey Bradford (emerged after Holmgren left Green Bay)
6th round: Bill Schroeder
Maybe Karsten Bailey is an example that it doesn't always work out. But I recall that there were indications pretty early on that he wasn't getting it, and you don't hear that about Taylor, Obomanu, or Payne. History suggests that the less heralded receivers can really make an impact in a Holmgren offense.

John-
I've posted on here several times about my interactions with Hawk players off the field and away from football...these are quality men who are fun to root for on Sundays. I don't think we could ask for a better team!!

Courtney Taylor is my pick for breakout offensive player.
Good height/size. Terrific routes/hands. Tough. Good athlete. Great jumper (state highjump champ in HS). Former qb.Hard worker.
He seemingly has it all outside of being a burner or a deep threat.
I loved him at Auburn well before he was a Hawk, if not for an injury or Auburn's run-oriented offense he would have been drafted much higher.
He's gonna have a big role with this team for a long time.
I liken him to a shorter Jurevicius or a poor-man's Boldin.

What about those UDFA we signed? I heard that Chas Gessner is similiar in style and size to Joe Jurevicius. Either way compitition will only benefit the team so I hope they all do well.

It just donned on me that the two faces of the franchise are both from Mass. Not sure if that means anything though outside of them eventually ending up on the Patriots' "Old/washed up" radar.

Chas Gessner is a long shot to make the team, as he is 26, and we allready have Logan Payne, who Ruskell has a man-crush on and who is signed to a five-year contract.
Gessner has been impressive, but I dont see the Hawks dumping one of our 4 young dudes to keep him. The only way he makes the team is if Ruskell freaks out and cuts Engram...
