Assclown?

Gravatar Every off-season, for seems like ever, Favre would threaten to retire. I got so sick of it. EVERY YEAR. It's kind of like that Groundhog Day movie with Bill Murray where the nightmare would never go away. Wake up and there's another Favre rumor about retirement. Uhhh! I'm with you, Mike!

Gravatar is there a link to an article or something? what's the new news about favre? he comin' back now?

Gravatar From the sound of crickets chirping coming from the Packers' camp, it sounds like they're sick of Farve's back-and-forth routine, too.

If the Packers don't bite, would Farve try to play on another team (which would suck for him, having to learn a new system), or blessedly, just fade into the background?

Brett, it's time to go play golf.

Gravatar I disagree, I like Brett Favre and think he should play for ass long as he physicaly can! He might have thrown that pick that cost them a trip to the super bowl but where would they have been without him last year? No Where! I still can't get the image out of my mind of him throwing an under hand pass in the snow, on the run that crushed my spirits.

Gravatar Hey, I like Farve, too. But there's a whole lot to be said for knowing when it's time to leave the game and to accomplish that with style and dignity.

He announced his decision and held the emotional news conference. His legacy wouldn't be helped by coming back like this.

Gravatar Not only did he hold a news conference, but he CRIED his eyes out!

PFT is reporting that he and his agent talked to GB last week about coming back, and the conversation ended with Favre asking to be released. GB declined.

Why don't the Packers just come out and say Favre will NOT be the QB anymore, if he wants to come back and finish his deal he can do it on the inactive list because the team moved on when he RETIRED.

Gravatar FWIW, Farve is saying the rumors are baseless. Whether or not that's true....

Gravatar My friend Corky adores Brett Favre. She was just crushed when he said he was retiring. I think she's been a Green Bay fan for 40 years.

I think the backup should ask to be traded. Brett Favre will play as long as he can cart himself out there, and the people of Green Bay will welcome him with open arms.

Why doesn't Green Bay just release him and move on? If he wants to play again, let him learn a different system. He'll retire before the first week of training camp's over.

Gravatar Ego = demanding attention while also being irrelevant.

Gravatar Its a tough call to bet against Farve for the packers. If they want to play for next year go ahead and bring him back. It might further set Rogers back but you dont really know what you have there anyways. I think the packers were a little bit happy in some ways he finally retired. He played well at times the last few seasons and he is a great leader but he played very poorly other times. Grant got them in the playoffs, not farve. They are getting younger on offense and if they are going to move forward you have to see what the young guns have - Rogers and the rookie. Him retiring allowed them to move on. They never could have benched him. If they were 0-10 people still would have rioted if Farve was benched in favor of the young kid.

Have some integrity. You said you didnt want to play anymore and made a big deal about it. Be a man of your word. That said, if the packers dont want him they should trade him and live with the backlash rather than just release him. Does anyone not think that maybe the bears or vikes wouldnt trade a 1st rounder to get farve? They shouldnt have to let him go for nothing.

Gravatar I actually feel sorry for Farve. He walked away when he didnt feel he could give 100%, and that if he didnt win the Super Bowl it would be the end of the world. Smart man. But now he's missing the game, missing the cameraderie, missing being a 38 year old stud instead of just another prematurely gray house hubby.

Honestly, what could compare with the rush of playing qb on sunday, what could compare with digging your team out of a 14-0 first quarter hole in the snow and absolutely decimating a very very good football team from South Alaska?! The answer is nothing, and Favre is feeling that HARD.

If the Packers really refused to release him so he could try to play for someone else, then THEY are the ones who should be Assclown, not Favre.

If they arent gonna let him play for them, they shouldnt stand in the way of him pulling a Joe Montana or Joe Namath.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Favre would be a fun game to see too.

I think Favre playing for some team that needs a qb (minnesota?! Washington? No, Kansas City! OR the Raiders! Or Baltimore!) would be a win-win--the Pack could move on with Rogers, Favre could struggle through one more year, and some team could upgrade thier qb position while grooming thier draft pick.

Gravatar Steffes, I'm with you 100% on this one.

Gravatar could not agree more, here here.

isn't it funny how three of the people on this list of "bests" are now on the seahawks' roster? Thought this would make for interesting conversation.

Gravatar I dunno how much I'd read into this list, our two players lost are Alexander and Strong, right? .....and Alexander was our best starter lost?

Gravatar I would've considered Josh Brown as our biggest loss...

Gravatar oh yeah, Brown... Strong was just the first to pop into my head when I read their definition "A primary starter is defined as a player who started at least half of his team's games the previous season or was forced from the lineup with a season-ending injury." I guess that further supports my case when they can't even come up with the right number of players that left our team by their "primary starter" definition.

Gravatar ...then would hackett count as well? he would have started half of the games if not injured..

Gravatar You would have to count Marcus Pollard, sad as it is, as a starter last year too.

By my count, when the Hawks step on to the field, they will essentially have 5 new starters.

The TE

The RB, unless Mo counts for last year

A WR, whether in the slot on the outside depending on where Bobby lines up

The K

Mike Wahle

If Lo Jack starts that is the possibility of 6...

Gravatar If you read Mike Florio's article he suggests that the Seahawks may be a team where Farve could land. That is just nuts.... entirely disses Matt and the team and shows Florio's complete lack of knowledge of the Seahawks to think for one minute that the Hawks would be so desperate to have any interest in Farve over Matt.

Gravatar You know i think we are all sick and tired of this crap every year for the last three years all you hear about is BRETT FARVE RETIRE? AND DALLAS COWBOYS THIS AND DALLAS COWBOYS THAT! BRETT FARVE IS THE BEST....Ok we friggn know already. Brett just retire and shut up! and for the cowboys you havnt been in it for ten years now and its still like you guys win the damn superbowl every year! damn.
