Seahawk Addicts

Gravatar Wow this does not seem like the bobby I watch on sundays. This is one of the last players I would of thought of doing this... There must be more to the story

Gravatar uh, can somebody explain the word contract to me. Do your job Bobby, and go win yourself a ring.

Gravatar it's a business, Bobby needs to look out for his family too. let's see how it plays out.

Gravatar Sounds like Bobby's last stand. He knows this is his last chance to get more money from the Seahawks. We don't need any DJack "I don't like my contract" issues on this team. If he does not change the attitude, I wonder what we can get in a trade. Shocked to hear he did this.

Gravatar I don't expect Bobby to change his tune, and the Hawks are definitely not going to ship him off. He is our ONLY RELIABLE reciever, and also the only one who Hasselbeck trusts. Bobby will likely get a small raise, and that will be the end of it...it may be under the table. Also, it is not that shocking, considering his time in the league he isn't making much more than the vet minimum and he had 90+ receptions last year for about 1150 yards.

Gravatar For Bobby, who has ALWAYS been the "team guy", to use skipping practice as a negotiation technique seems counter-productive to me.

If there's not more to the story, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Gravatar I think SA would like the word contract explained to him also. Let's face it, the team can void the contract and cut you at any time (barring injury), so this is the only way the player can do the same thing. The problem is, when they do holdout like this, the fans take it personal and get pissed. Don't worry, Bobby will be playing on Sundays. However now we can check out these young guys even more.

Gravatar what Surf Hawk said.

Gravatar Bobby Engram = Wayne Gretzky

Gravatar I'm not flaming here; just constructive criticism.

"I am not sure how we are supposed to interrupt [INTERPRET] Bobby's quote..."

"Hopefully he will let the fans know, so we can adequately access [ASSESS] the situation."

Gravatar No worries, thanks. I haven't had much time to spend on the blog today so I did everything very quickly. Clearly I wasn't paying attention when either writing or spellchecking. Thanks for pointing it out.

Gravatar surf, SA wasnt forced to renegociate his contract. The FO decided to opt out and pay the price. SA got paid out big time.

Gravatar SA did not get paid big time when the FO cut him. His signing bonus was still against the cap for this year but he recieved that when he signed. The millions he would be making next season, the season after that, and so he won't get because he was cut. The same principle applies to bobby. The FO could cut him at anytime and not pay him his contract, so the only negotiating power he has is to sit out. Mind you, this is a VOLUNTARY camp anyway.

if when he starts skipping mandatory workouts/practices, then there is an issue..

Gravatar what most of you are failing to address with the Bobby Situation is that he is the most solid receiver we have and knows this system better than anyone besides Matt. I know exactly how Bobby feels. I work for a company that is doing the same thing to me right now. Paying a new guy more than me because he has a college degree, but I have been with the company longer and have more knowledge of the processes within the organization. Either way you slice it Bobby feels like he is underappreciated by his organization and wants to be adequetly comensated for it. I didn't hear about Bobby hiring some hot shot agent like Hill did or Asante Samuels did. This makes me think Bobby wants to be treated fairly and paid fairly rather than him saying "i'm the sh#*, now pay me".

Give him another Million dollars and extend his contract another year to keep him happy.

In regards to Bobby's health: He is as healthy as he has ever been. Anyone that knows what a thighroid condition consists of knows that you have to live a more healthy lifestyle in order to live without pain and illness. So give the guy a break.

We are looking for contributors over at The12thHawk so e-mail me some sample posts guys. I am looking for 5-10 good writers to make for multiple discussions.

Gravatar This is a tough deal in a lot of ways. You know that Ruskell and the front office would love to renegotiate with Bobby to ensure his happiness and role on the team. After all, the Hawks want him to be a leader of the WR corps. Its tough to be a leader when you underpaid. They youngsters don't have the same respect for you. Then you look at the Hawks perspective. They need him, they know that. But what precedent do they set here. If they pay him, renegotiate, it spits in the face of what they've been doing. So if they do anything, they have to do it in a way that shows a long term commitment and vision. Perhaps you sign Bobby to a two year extension. Have the money include a healthy roster bonus. I'm sure they can work something out. But how will it look? Will it encourage other players to do this too? Guys like LeRoy Hill, Hasselbeck, Big Walt, and any others who out-play their contract. It could easily be said that compared to current NFL salaries Matt Hasselbeck and Walt Jones are both underpaid. What can of worms does this open?

Obviously, with a player of this value- just telling him to honor the contract he signed is not a good idea. You need to talk it over...come out of this feeling good.

Gravatar From the sound of it, they had already talked. They dumped travis brown because they knew they would need a new reciever...how did they know that...because Bobby talked to them before he skipped camp. It is a pretty bad situation. Larry fitzgerald is going to make 10 million next year; Randy moss 8 million (might be seven); Branch and Burleson are going to make more than 3 apiece. Bobby is scheduled to make 1.7 million. He caught 94 passes out of the 352 total receptions...over 26.7% of all of the team receptions. The closest person on our roster to Engram...Burleson with 51.

The FO should have given him a bonus without him asking for one.

One more thing, in the 1 minute 17 second interview of Holmgren he said that the Hawks NEED Engram twice and that he HOPES they can work something out. He also said that Engram told him last week that he might not come to the VOLUNTARY practice.

Gravatar One more thing, it is arguable that Engram is the most underrated/underpaid player on the team. For his seasons he makes little more than the vet minimum.
