Seahawk Addicts

Gravatar Great work Michael.
I know that you don't want to put the Hawks at #1 on EVERYTHING (although our competition makes it pretty easy to do), but I would argue that the kicker situation will fluctuate quite a bit. J. Brown will be good on the Rams, they will get what they paid for.
As for us, I expect Plackermeir to be the best or 2nd best punter this year, since most of his problem came from the long snapping change-up. As for Mare, he is already an upgrade over J. Brown on KO's, and is better than any other KO specialist in the league. Mare, being used to strange weather after going all over the league, will have OK FG percentage this year, but if Coutu is all that is said of him we very well may keep him as the FG specialist. I truly don't see Coutu beating out Mare for a full-time job, Mare is very useful. If you want to come at me hollering and screaming about last year, then remember that Mare was injured on the Saints. 2 years ago, I think, Mare was a Pro Bowler.

Good work Michael.

Gravatar If Mare beats out Coutu for both KO's and FG's where does that leave Coutu?
As a draft pick does he have to stay with the Seahawks (in the practice squad) or would they release him.
Apologies if this is a stupid question but it seems unlikely both would be in the 53.

Gravatar Scotia-

In order for Coutu to get to the practice squad, which I have to figure the Hawks would consider, he would have to clear waivers, which means any other team that needs a kicker could take a shot with him.

Just because he is a draft pick doesn't mean much other than the Hawks invested something in him. I would guess more than 50% of 7th rounders will get cut from various teams.

Gravatar Nice analysis! My only question/comment was I remember reading somewhere that Holmy was not going to use Burleson in the return game this year. Probably due to the lack of veteran receivers with experience and not wanting to risk him getting hurt.

If that is the case I would have to drop the Hawks out of the #1 slot.

Great stuff. I can't believe I still have to wait 113 days for the season to start!

Gravatar Awesome analysis, all week man. 113 days left!

Gravatar I think Plackemier is better than Donnie Jones. Why else would we get rid of Jones. The only thing the Rams have on us as far as special teams is Josh Brown. He will do well in St Louis because simply, they play in a dome. I think the Hawks should be tied with the Rams on specialists.
I love the analysis though...

Gravatar Nice work today! I may be picking the nits a little but I would have to say the Cards line scares me a bit more than the 9ers. To me, Dockett is the most disruptive DT in the NFC West. He alone makes them a more fearsome unit in my estimation. They also added a nice edge rusher in Laboy and should be able to start to employ a rotation at DE with Berry and the rooks. I do like Sopanga from San Fran, mostly because we share a first name and we're both Pac Islanders, he does seem like a nice NT for a 3/4 front. I think Balmer is garbage and fits the team perfectly. Nobody on that line is going to consistently get to the QB. Justin Smith may shore up their run D a bit, but that's about it.

Gravatar Justin Smith may make their line better, but with the retirement of Bryant Young... their line needed to get better.

Even though Smith is a DE and Young was a DT... that's still a wash... their DL didn't get better in this regard...

Gravatar Just remember that Josh Brown was actually just ok last year. I think the long ones and the game winners have made him something of a folk legend but he was not the greatest thing since sliced bread.
