If they can get Payne some experience and settled down, they might have themselves the solution for the slot for a long time to come. He supposedly has hands like Engram but hasn't been consistent like Bobby is yet.
Man, I just hope we don't end up giving one of these young receivers to Zorn to develop into a Seahawks buster when they come to play us.

Why Haven't the hawks looked to the FA market for a vet WR to bring in? I really like Joe Horn, He could come in and give us some quick needed help at the position,AND help teach are many unprovens at the position, with a 1 year contract.
I know there is bobby, and I want bobby to get his money, but this is Holmgren's last season also, and he also deserves the best chance possible to win.
I know this is a far stretch, but just a thought that we could maybe still find some help.
also I live in northern CA, does anybody know how much tickets would cost to go to the game in Frisco? and would it be possible to purchase them on game day? or when would be the best time to buy?
lol one last comment/question
Has anybody thought about the push from Mora to not want to give Bobby a extended contract. Mora being the coach after this year, maybe he doesn't like bobby, or something? just a quick thought

Currently Joe Horn is still a Falcon, so the Hawks can't just sign him.
Also, any receiver they bring in, likely means they lose one of the good young players they are developing. There just isn't room on the roster for 8 WR's. They will probably have to cut one of there young WRs anyway.

All the talk about going out and getting some WR in free agency is not a great solution.
It has been said that the offense of Mike Holmgren is increadibly complex and it takes a WR (even a good one) a year or two to really learn.
The young guys have all been on the roster for 2-4 years and have worked every day on this offense.
There aren't many, Joe Jurevicius being one of the rare exceptions, WR's that could come in and immediately be a #1 or #2 here.
If you're just going to sign a person to be the #4 or #5 guy, why not just give the young guys that chance.

Chuck,
I agree 100%. What good does it do to delvelop players if you don't give them first crack at a job that becomes open. Until training camp, no one can yet say how these four young receivers will play when they put the pads on and now you actually have to make the play rather than show you were in position to make it.
At that point, they should be able to tell if one of them isn't going to be able to cut it and look to sign someone. As you said, the number 5 and 6 receivers should be someone learning the game anyway not some veteran riding the pine unless you have big time injury concerns in your top three or four receivers.
