Looks really good Michael, really appreciate the work. This truely is the #1 spot for up to the minute Seahawks news and discussion. I hope you keep it up.
As far as the depth chart it looks real good.
Come September I think Babin is cut, Mike Green is cut, Omare Lowe is cut.
Jamar Adams makes the team and Courtney Taylor becomes the top WR not named Engram, Branch or Burleson.

Hobbs is on the bubble for a job, so I left him off. The Hawks keep 4 corners usually and because of all the safeties I am thinking Babs will be seen as a corner.
Thanks Darnell, there will defintely be some major changes in it by September. I think all of those moves you mentioned are strong possibilities.
Glad to see someone else who feels so strongly about Adams. I think that was a great signing.

I don't think age is an issue for the safety position anymire since we have two young safeties on our roster now

A nice way to do a depth chart. Certainly it will be fluid until August and position battles are settled. I wonder about Engram at the #3 WR, surely he'll not be in the slot until Branch comes back? Also, I'm interested to view your take on the return/special teams roles. (PR/KR, etc.)
P.S. Glad to see comments back. The site's interactiveness, I believe, is crucial.

my 53:
qbs: Hasselbeck, S Wallace, Frye (3)
rbs: J Jones, Morris, Duckett (3)
fbs: Weaver, O Schmitt (2)
wrs: Branch, Engram, Burleson, Obomanu,Taylor, Payne/Kent (6)
tes: Carlson, Heller, Putzier (3)
oline: W Jones, Wahle, Spencer, Sims, Locklear, Gray, Willis, Wrotto, Womack (9)
des: Kerney, Jackson, Tapp, Atkins (4)
dts: Mebane, Bernard, Tubbs, Bryant, Terrill, Triplett (6)
lbs: Peterson, Tatupu, Hill, Lewis, Herring, Laury (6)
cbs: Trufant, Jennings, Wilson, Babineaux (4)
s: Grant, Russell, Adams, C Wallace (4)
specialists: Coutu, Plackemeir, T Schmitt (3)
from that 53 I think a DT may be sacfrificed for a lber or cb (Hobbs, Dizer)
Babin and Green are the veteran cuts, we know what those guys are at this point so they're replaced by inexpensive youth.
I see no room for two kickers, maybe just to start the year with Branch on PUP.
Kent/Payne for the #6 WR will come down to who offers more on special teams.
Forsett may not be safe on the practice squad and could grab a spot from the #6 WR or #4 safety.
Should be interesting.

Misfit, Great Idea! I added them! I am not sure what to make of the return situation though, so I just used last years

One of the reasons I asked about the KR/PR situation is that I've heard (and commented about) Nate being removed from his role as a returner. I wonder if this is temporary with Branch out, with the idea of keeping him our healthy #1 or #2 WR. Also, I believe he'll be back to return in clutch situations, if needed ala Westbrook and others.

I agree with darnell, I think Taylor is gonna climb up the depth chart this spring and summer.
I wouldn't be surprised if him and Burleson start next year with Engram in the slot.

I sure like the look of our defense. And our offense should show a marked improvement in the 'toughness' department. For some reason I'm not overly concerned with our WR depth. I think Obamanu, Taylor and Payne are going to surprise some folks with their steadiness.
The only position of concern to is depth at LB. As long as we stay healthy (knock wood, light a candle, say a prayer) we're fine. But depth there is definately a huge concern in my mind. I know I'm not alone with that worry either.
Regardless of injury worries, is the coaching staff truly confident with Laury, Herring and Lewis giving our starting LB's a breather on a regular basis?

With d line with depth like this the defense will be so much stronger. Hopefully with better d tackle play we will be stronger on the road.

A few thoughts on your depth chart Mike:
I'm pretty sure Babs will be the nickle CB until Wilson proves he can handle it in live games, and should go into camp and the season as the nickle CB. Also Babs is the Hawks best non-starting safety and I'm pretty sure is considered the main backup for Grant and Russell.
I doubt Babin has any chance of making the team, but I'm pretty sure Atkins is considered Kerney's rotational backup, but not the backup for if Kerney gets injured.
I think Grey is the backup for both guards and center, but I'm sure that if Sims earns the RG spot that he will not be moved to LG if Wahle gets hurt. That would go to Grey or Willis.
One more - I feel pretty certain that Holmgren will not have his number 1 or 2 WR returning kicks and punts. Forsett will make the team as the 6th RB, but really as a special teams ace - just as the team did with Scobey four years ago.
Those are the things I feel strongly about. I also believe Coutu will beat out Mare and the team will only have to carry one kicker, but they may want to have the vet presence for Holmgren's last year.

Nice work! I'm just remembering in an interview where I believe it was holmy who said they were going to take Nate off of punt returns. I don't know, maybe I was dreaming/having a nightmare... but that could knock him down the depth chart list in that position.

Hey Mike
Do you think there is a possibility of Willis starting at RG then Sims. If Sims cannot block on the left why do they think he will on the right.

All of the things said in these comments are strong possibilities, like I said, the depth chart is very fluid. People are in places that they held most recently with maybe the exception of Wilson, who I moved up this year because he was drafted high. It will be changing often as we get more information on the upcoming year. For example, I will take Nate of punt returns as soon as we have a better idea who will be back there.

Darnell's 53 forecast looks pretty sound.
I think Tubbs is likely to start the year on the PUP list and may well move to IR rather than the roster. That will leave them with a contract issue for the following year if he is even in good enough shape to make another run at it. Sad story--good news is that there is still a chance this is a bad assessment.
You know Branch is going to start the year on the PUP.
Although I understand your reasoning on Babs, they ought to keep another corner because if they don't they are exposed if there is an injury to one of the top two. I do think Babs makes the team.
Finally, I have an off the wall forecast that I will keep a copy of for posterity--I think Alcorn at least beats Putzier out as #3 TE. I agree that Darnell's list is the way to bet but my forecast for the unheard of guy that hits the top this year is Alcorn.

This is definitely going to be an exciting year for Seahawk fans in and around Portland. Not only are the Blazers moving up (sorry Sonics fans, but take solice in the fact that Blazers fans hate to see the Supersonics leave as well), but they have come up with an FM radio station that will be all sports focusing on Blazers, Seahawks, and Oregon Ducks!!! I can keep tabs on my 3 favorite teams while driving to and from work now!
As far as the depth chart, it was put together very well, but as everyone knows it will change 7-8-10 more times in the same sense as mock drafts! Ha. Looking forward to see the new and improved run game, and our D looks to get stronger against the run. Forcing QB's to pass will only help the Hawks have another great season for sacks.
As far as the return game, Justin Forsett was a late pick, but he has big hands but ran a slow 4.44 in the 40. Guess from what he said he can run in the 4.3 range pretty regularly. With the RB situation already too crowded, we could try him out while Dranch is on the PUP list, and see what happens.
GO HAWKS!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Momo gone and Forsett in. That little dude is greasy quick and hard to find, and FAST too.
Ease Tubby in after a PUP for the stretch run. Defense will be insanely tuff.
Our young receivers will shock a great many people, get ready for a real fun year everyone.
Oh, and Carlson will blow you all away for two reasons.
1) He will be an every down player, which won't "tip off" the opposing defense to the play.
2) He can actually catch the ball, and he will move the chains, which will keep offense on the field, which will score more points.
I'm also excited about the new kicker, our old kicker (can't remember his name) was nothing more than average, with a weak kickoff distance that put our defense at risk WAY too often.
Good to be able to speak again Mike.

Holmgren, on the radio the other day, said that Morris will be around and be one of the primary backs, splitting time with Jones and Duckett.
He is the only one who has been in the system for a while, so it seems he will stick around.
They may keep Forsett too though, they kept 6 running backs on the roster in 2002.

If the the rookie kicker does well at all I think Mare is gone. He would just sit out there not signed unless someone else had an injury or was horrible. If that happens to us there is a good chance they could just resign him.
