I have that issue of the Flash. It's as wonderful inside as it is on the cover.

I want DC Direct to make a giant, bullet-ridden nickel with Sgt. Rock's profile on it. Now.

I saw the Superman death initials cover years ago, and just bought it and read it recently. Not so great, but it was satisfying to get the big secret anyway.

Today's covers are terrible on the whole. I've recently been sorting and boxing my comics of the past 5 years or so, and noticing how a huge number of them have (usually, but not always!) well-drawn covers that say nothing more than "This comic has Spider-Man in it" or "This one's got the Punisher, perhaps with a different gun than he had on the last cover."

Yes, looking at that X-men series Morrisson did a while back, I noticed how dull all these covers were.

These covers did their best not to look like comic books, in an uptight attempt at portraying maturity and respectability; they only succeeded at looking ugly and boring.

Have you ever tried putting those variant Justice Leagues on Ebay to see what happens? You've got a pile of them, but here on the East Coast, I don't believe I've ever even *seen* one firsthand. (Not that I've exactly gone out of my way searching, but still....)

David C - I've been thinking about it!
