Not to get too nerdy, but I think Slapstick wasn't the only Marvel character to debut on a card. I remember the 1st original X-Men cards by Jim Lee were advertised as having the 1st appearance of a new character created by Lee. I believe that was Maverick. I don't know if the cards came out before Maverick's official comic book debut, though.
