Off Topic: When did you put that Kyle Baker Shadow head in the top right corner? I'd maim for a complete Helfer/Baker Shadow TPB; those books were grim, gritty and HILARIOUS. I don't know what happened after they grafted the Shadow's head to a robot body; did the series end in mid-storyline or something?

I seem to recall that it actually did - regardless of sales, apparently the people who actually owned the Shadow thought the comic was getting too far out.

That would actually be a great Urban Legend to track down, if those people are listening...

Yes, the series ended on a cliffhanger to nowhere with issue #19, and a comics writer I know who's worked with Andy Helfer has told me Helfer was plotting the series by the seat of his pants, so he doesn't really know where it would have ended up.

I asked Baker about this at Wondercon in 2004, and he told me that the cancellation had as much to do with poor sales as Conde Nast's licensing fees, and that the series was never intended to be tied up; that he and Helfer just decided to push the envelope and have fun.
