Hey, thanks for the plug! I wasn't expecting it; it's just that I thought of all the blogs I know, your audience would be the most receptive to a Gorilla Suit message of love.

No sweat...I'd been meaning to drop in a plug for the comic for a few days now, and this seemed as good a place as any!

If my late father were still around, I'd call him up and mention this post and he'd once again give me crap for suggesting his paper carry Rudy, where it *ahem* wasn't quite as popular as Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side.

hey mike,

I almost bid on that RUDY at the last minute until I saw you were its top [only] bidder. I just couldn't bring myself to torpedo America's Most Beloved Nerd, no matter how badly I wanted that book. I JUST COULDN'T DO IT! SOB! I COULDN'T!!!!!!!

[Actually, I bought a copy of the Don Martin book that includes the National Gorilla Suit story for a dollar and shipping instead. Don't cry for me, Ventura County.]

You are going to post a review of RUDY IN HOLLYWOOD once you've read it, right?

yours in christ,

There used to be (maybe still is) a little old guy, maybe 5'5", who would stand around outside the Chicago Board of Trade in a gorilla suit, with a "World Gym" shirt on. Or maybe it was a sandwich board.

Anyway, whenever I and my friends walked by, we had to say "That's a mo-f****in go-rilla!"

Well, it was funny at the time.

You didn't mention, or maybe you didn't see, but at that same APE, Too Much Coffee Man was there too. The two of them even got into a mock fight.

The things you see when sitting behind a table at conventions.....
