We had a comple books come in out of the Diamond boxes hat looked like someone must have drug them across the floor before shipping them out. Of course, it had to be the Daredevil incentive cover. Curses.
As far as the mistake that IC has to have y right of Murphy's Law... I dunno. I have this inexplicable urge to trust in Johns. Maybe it's his boyish looks. Maybe it's the fact that he took Hawkman and got him back to basics and cleaned up that Crisis snag.
Here's hoping.

Carla Q? Is that you? I am come from the future! Trust not the Johns. He is a plural alpha hybrid mind evaporator, code name G.E. Off. He am gain the trust of suspectless comic DC public, then pull off face to reveal: All is hoax! All is imaginary story! DCU am made up by nerdy yokels! Punching typewriters for paychecks! Save yourself!
(In any case, a belated thank you to Mikester for the Valentine love! Right back atcha!)

The problems post-Crisis came mostly from a lack of editorial will and a reboot without an overall plan. As you point out it wasn't Crisis that caused problems with stuff like Hawkman's origin, it was the stuff that came after it.
The biggest problems that came out of the post-Crisis era were probably the Hawkman mess and the Legion/Superboy mess. Both of these were caused by reboots of the character where the editors weren't thinking of overall impact to the "universe" as a whole - just to their own books. With the new focus on "whole universe" storytelling, and with alpha-fanboys like Johns, Waid, Busiek and Morrison leading the post-IC rebuilding, I suspect that those kind of problems won't crop up.
On the other hand, the law of unforseen consequences must have victims, so I'm sure that SOME kind of problems will crop up. I just think that they won't be the same type of problems that happened post-Crisis.

I still think the puppy's going to end up either (a) giving away their position at a crucial moment by barking or (b) biting a German soldier in the ankle at a crucial moment.

I really like the first year or so of the ongoing Hawkworld series. If only they'd said "Five Years Ago..." or something at the beginning of that first issue...

I think DC should promote Miller's Batman book as "Civilian Justice and American Power...done right!"

I wish I could say "Apocalypse vs. Dracula" was the worst use of Bram Stoker's properties ever...
...but, unfortunately, Mutant X, which teamed Dracula up with the BEYONDER, is faaaaar worse.

I'm just trying to figure out when Green Lantern Corps: recharge is supposed to have taken place.
The Rann-Thanagar War series shows Kyle and Kilowog on Earth, talking about Kyle's recovery (I assume from fighting Sinestro in GL: Rebirth) and they're in space until Kyle becomes Ion again.
Did Kilowog and Kyle leave this war to have their Recharge adventure?
THE WORLD WILL NEVER KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still don't get why they made those ID Crisis toys based on the cover artist's designs and not the art of a guy who can draw people in, like, proportion. Is Michael Turner really that popular?

Mike,
It is no wonder that I don't read continuity-driven superhero comics anymore. I'll stick with the ABC stuff and Astro City, thanks.

Hawkworld was the only version of Hawkman I've ever been interested in (outside the Kubert books). John Ostrander and Tim Truman wrote about compelling characters who actually went through changes and development. It wasn't perfect, but I really dug it. I heard Hawkwoman died in some crossover. What a waste.
Oh, and Hawkworld screwed up continuity. So what. Good comics trumps poor attention to continuity.

Mike L. - I didn't have any problem with Hawkworld...I enjoyed it, too, and didn't really care that it fouled up any company-wide continuity.
I'm simply amused at the idea that these company-wide crossovers (like the two Crisises and Zero Hour) which, while explicitly designed to "fix" things, invariably create more problems in the process.

Alpha-fanboys really only tend to pay attention to continuity they personally care about. I personally don't care much about continuity at all, but Johns has accidentally screwed-up the history of quite a few second-tier characters over the last few years; it's really only a matter of time before he does it to a character somebody actually cares about and kickstarts the next wave of Giant Fixit Crossovers.

As much as I love articulation on action figures, I'm not sure that any good will come to giving Dr. Light more poseable hands...

"Alpha-fanboys really only tend to pay attention to continuity they personally care about."
But since Grant cares about EVERYTHING in the DCU, we're safe.
