Don't be sorry, Mike. Your obsession with terrible TV shows is all part of the reason why we loves ya!

Also, the whole Lois calling Clark "Smallville" thing...that came out of the mid-80s comics revamp, I'm pretty sure.

Actually, I believe that started with Lois & Clark, but I'm willing to be wrong. (I have to be, I'm married...)

Hey, I can bang on about the worst TV right along with you Mikester. Trust me, i'm the one considering buying Ironside season 3 from Australia, and I'm presently revisiting CSI season by season (although CSI has generally been good, unlike the comedic tragedy of CSI: Miami.)

My best friend regularly asks me about characters and events in Smallville and if they're established in comics canon. Which is how she ends up with my rambling on at length about Mercy Graves and the connection to Tess Mercer (nicknamed Mercy.)

I believe the thing with Lois calling Clark "Smallville" might actually date back to the first Christopher Reeve movie. It was also used on Lois & Clark.

And here I thought that "Smallville" began with The Animated Series. Huh, somebody oughta research this.

I've got the Superman mythos consultant row with my wife's family. It's not just Smallville though, all of the superhero movies of the last decade have increased demand for our services.

I was under the impression that Green Arrow was kind of filling in the role they would use Batman for if they could.

I'm sorry Mike, we commenters keep extending this discussion past its point of site appeal, like your own personal plot-extending Kryptonian artifacts.

It did. The question comes up periodically, and the last time I saw it, it was conclusively shown to have shown up first on the animated show.

I had stopped watching halfway through season 2, and have only caught a few random episodes since then. The first Aquaman, the first Martian Manhunter, a few Justice League ones.

Would it be worth it to netflix the old seasons and catch up?

I have now officially spent exponentially more time reading about Smallville on this site than I have ever spent watching the show.

THANKS, MIKE.

(I kid, I kid.)

I'm still watching it, too, and I'm really glad they've stopped droning about the poorly-conceived Veritas conspiracy. It was supposed to tie all the random, dangling story threads together, but even by SMALLVILLE standards it was pretty silly.

As for being comic consultant for the whole family...

Smack in the middle of The Dark Knight, as Harvey fell over into the puddle of gasoline, my wife leaned over and whispered, "Who is he? WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM?"
