You've not watched the underdog DVD commentary YET? YET? YET?

I'd forgotten they had Dinklage as Simon Bar Sinister. And how much that tempted me to actually see the movie. Hmmm. Should I add it to my queue? I don't know. Maybe if the casting had been flipped with Wharburton as Underdog and Lee as Dinklage's flunkie. Or Riff Raff. And not some dog Riff Raff. An anthromorphic wolf...

I'm not the first Luke, by the way.

My wife and I are renting Underdog to watch this weekend. One of our coworkers saw it and enjoyed it quite a bit, and I thought it looked pretty amusing.

As for the two Countdown books, if I could afford it I would be buying them as well, so don't feel bad. You don't have to agree with the comics "blogosphere's" Uni-Mind all the time.

You know, I thought I was the only one looking forward to watching UNDERDOG...and when I do, I'll publicly thank you, Mike.

The COUNTDOWN one-shots - except for the Crime Society one - have been a little underwhelming for me. (Of course, I loves me some Crime Syndicate/Society action, so there)

I won't make fun of you, Mike. As long as you don't watch the commentary.

"I know property damage is standard practice for superhero adventures, but every time I see a building demolished or a telephone booth exploded, et cetera, I think to myself 'someone's gotta pay for that.'"

I vaguely recall a Marvel (limited?) series in the late 1980s about a government team that goes around cleaning up and rebuilding after superhero fights. The concept was good but it turned out actually watching people clean up wasn't all that interesting.

Heeeeere's a third version, with a great deal of build-up (but, still, only two minutes of your day):

Thanks for reminding me of the existence of that Butthole Surfers cover. That's a fun one.

And another version of the prior a cappella barbershop version, but in Spanish (and much shorter): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-...h?v=- Y6jg4KnnGo

By "Spanish", I meant "Italian".

Jason Lee? Well, that's another movie I can't see, since I boycott works from people involved with the Scientology brainwashing cult. No great loss, I'm sure, but still...

Thelonius,

You're thinking of the Damage Control series of mini-series (serieses?).

"I vaguely recall a Marvel (limited?) series in the late 1980s about a government team that goes around cleaning up and rebuilding after superhero fights. The concept was good but it turned out actually watching people clean up wasn't all that interesting."

Damage Control. I had to look it up using the awe inspiring power of the internet, but do remember picking up at least one issue back in the day.

I just got 3 issues of the first series from the local comic store for a buck a pp. Good Times.

I've got your back on ARENA! In fact, I'm at a loss to understand how any comics fan can *not* like ARENA.

Heroes from parallel universes forced to battle each other like gladiators? Miller Superman vs. Red Son Superman? Earth-Shazam's Hal Jordan and his exclamation of "Darkest Night!"

What's not to love??

Mike, it's no fun to mock you if you ask for it. Sheesh.

The swell Comic Book Guy at my regular shop actually talked me out of buying Countdown Arena yesterday. The concept seemed like a can't-miss (heroes beating the crap out of their doppelgangers) but he didn't think it was worth the higher cover price. That, combined with the fact that I'm recycling more and more of my comics these days (just doing my part to make everybody else's comics rarer), is keeping me away.

Dork

I saw it this morning after I read your post. I didn't dislike it. Damn!

Amazing... Peter Dinklage is Dr. Psycho.

You guys are nuts. Damage Control was brilliant. It was written by this guy named Dwayne McDuffie who went on to do a few other things you might be familiar with and the second issue featured their accountant versus Dr. Doom! How could you not love that?!

Hey, I love Damage Control!
